Girlys car got some advisories on the bushes last MOT, so it seems the sensible thing to do is to swap the whole wishbone units out.
Just been quoted £200 to do it and the tracking.
1) is that about right
2) how difficult is it to do at home? I figure it's £70-80 for the wishbones, then i'll need a ball joint separator for £12. That puts it back within girly's budget.
I'm not a mechanic (no? really? lol) but I managed to strip her interior out and put it all back together again without breaking/loosing/****ing anything up and it doesn't squeak or rattle so i'd put myself in the competant to follow half decent instructions catagory.

What tools am I going to need and can someone point me in the direction of some half decent instructions to follow?

As well as the ball joint separator, you'll need a breaker bar to undo the bolts and a torque wrench to do them back up again. Oh, and a set of sockets to use with said breaker bar and torque wrench. You'll need a jack to lift it, and some axle stands to keep it up. I'd recommend having some form of transport available for the inevitable trip to the local motor factors when something breaks.

To be honest, if you're starting with no tools, that £200 becomes the cheaper option. However, if you want to get more into fixing things, then you can consider the tools to be a long term investment.

Thanks slimy. Very useful :) feel free to pm me with your quotes guys, I'll give them to girly and see what she wants to do.
