Retractable wing mirror issue

I noticed this morning that my passenger side wing mirror hasn't fully opened and only opens out a third of the way, the drivers side is fine.
I've moved the little dial onto various positions that's near the electric window buttons and have even tried to reset the electric windows plus held the fob botton in to try and reset the mechanism but that mirror only moves in and out a third of the way!!!

After 30 minutes of messing around it did retract fully 3 times out of a possible 20 tries so on the basis of that is the motor broken or not if it does retract occasionally??

The last time it retracted I had no choice but to go into my infotainment settings and untick the option to close the mirrors when I lock the door so at least I've managed to keep the mirrors out as I don't want to be messing about with them every time I get into the car.
The actual mirror itself works perfectly, it's just the housing that is playing up.

Anything else I can try?

Mine did something similar before I had to replace it. It kind of got stuck in no-mans land and wasn't locating in either the fully closed or full open position.

When I replaced it, the new one worked spot on.

How much does it cost to replace? The mirror itself works still it just sticks when folding in and out. I'm no good at doing it myself so I'd have to get a garage to do it

I had the same issue. The fold in/out motor or mechanism failed. The mirror was more of less a bit `floppy` and I think the mechanism failed. The glass still adjusted just fine but that's a different part.

I bought a new mirror and fitted it myself so can't give a fitted price. I'd say maybe an hours work though for a garage. It took me longer as I went slow and followed some really good You Tube videos.

If the garage buy a genuine mirror, you may have to pay a lot. I'd try to get an OEM one. Mine came unpainted with a grey primed cover, but I just fitted the old red one so no issues with colour matching.

I messed up this morning. The folding mirror motor was working in a fashion the other day but was taking a lot of time and effort for it to extend out which I managed to get it to the other day. When I achieved that the other day I went into my infotainment settings and turned off the folding mirror option so I made it that they never retracted back in when I locked the door. Today I made the mistake of going back into the infotainment option just to see if the passengers side has started to work again, it did fold in and now it won't fold out again at all so I'm not sure if the motor has finally packed in or a fuse has blown so I've had to manually pull out the wing mirror which now wobbles as it's not sat correctly on the motor spindle.

Is there a way of manually adjusting the motor spindle back to the folding out position so that the wing mirror will just clock into place because if I can get the wing mirror to sit correctly I'll probably won't bother getting it fixed and just live with the fact they won't fold in again.

That's what I did and ended up with the floppy mirror. I'm not sure if you can reset it. If you can, you'd probably have to remove the unit anyway and pull it apart. That means removing the door card. If you're going to do that, you may as well fit a new mirror. 🤷

I had to use some duck tape to keep it in place when I did that a few weeks ago.. until I got an eBay replacement mirror (with the same folding and heating options) - relatively straightforward job once the door trim is levered off!
