hey i've just bought a mk 2 ibiza. so far i have only one problem with it.. it has a clock and not a rev counter!!![:@]

is it possible to fit just a rev counter in place of the clock, or do i have to change entire instrument cluster.

ta Rob

you'll need to swap the whole instrument cluster

what engine is it? I have a spare set of clocks you could have.

You have to change the whole instrument cluster with one from a car with a rev counter. Only thing with that is that it displays the mileage of the car it came out of and not the your own car.

You can get it changed thought.

Why not go overkill and bolt a massive big shiny halfords one on your dash with a glow in the dark change light?

I'd definitely be interested in these M0rk if the OP hasn't beaten me to it!!

I have this problem on my 1.4 (1999 Fresco)...would any instrument panel from a higher spec model do the job? If panel came from a car with the MPG display etc (as it does in the GTI/Cupra) would these work as well? or would i need some sort of control unit for this to work?

Cheers,
Dan

In my car I used the dials from a 6N polo and they work perfectly (apart from having to take out one of the bulbs which isn't used by the Ibiza). My car's a 1.4 Salsa.

I tried some clocks from a Cordoba SX in there and found that the oil pressure warning buzzer and light came on after about half a mile and wouldn't turn off even thought the oil level was fine so you may have problems with GTI clocks.

Good luck with it!

yeah, my clocks are from my old vario, which at least will have the correctly cal'd red line etc.

The MFA won't work though (if the clocks had it) as that needs the ECU to match.

1st to drop me an email with a suggestion of how to get it from me wins. (since it's free)

heya

can anyone tell me if i just change the clocks would the rev counter work? if not what would i have to doto get it working?

thaks

I'm guessing you're talking about swapping the instrument cluster for one from a car with a rev-counter?

If you are then I've done it on my car, using the dials from a 6N Polo. The only problem is that one of the warning lights is constantly lit but this is easily solved by removing the bulb (I assume that there's a sensor on the Polo that isn't there on the Ibiza)

The other thing is that the mileage will be wrong but this can be changed by people on eBay for around £50 if it bothers you.

Cheers guys, ill look into after christmas. i'll just have to live with the clock for now

Do you need any sensors or bits of loom to fit a rev counter dash in place of a clock dash, if it helps i have a pre-facelift 1996 1.9D with engine code 1Y. is it a straight swap like? ie unplug old clock dash plug in rev counter dash?
thanks?

On mine it was a straight swap (1997 facelift - Polo 6n) but I did try with some pre-facelift clocks (rolling odometer) and they didn't work so I'm guessing you might need the pre-facelift clocks for your car...?

Good luck

its a bit of a mix up pre facelift/post facelift it has the digital odometer and the facelifted breaks ive found so far probably many many more bits, so it should be a straight swap hopefully, thanks

Sorry to drag this thread back up but do you need any wiring to to swap over from clock panel to a rec counter panel?

thanks, will

Brilliant, thanks mate thats all i needed to know. much appriciated
