after the car is on for a while?

I know mine can be quite jittery after stopping for a second but it settles down after a few seconds

Funny this has come up. On Sunday my FR tdi started up with a 1450 rpm tickover :(

It dropped back to normal once the throttle was blipped but on a restart it returned to the higher tickover again. I put it in the garage and connected my battery conditioner up and left it till i came home from work the next day and it started normal (850 rpm) again and has been fine ever since. Strange

When my battery was on its way out, it would start with a higher idle speed

Have a look if your brake lights are stuck ON.

It sounds like the anti stall is kicking in.

no the brake lights are working as normal its only doing it inertmetantly when u rev it slightly it stops and goes back too 850 on tick over drives apasalutly fine

When it started with the high tickover i just "felt" the battery seemed a bit low which is why i put it on the conditioner. She's sat in the garage all week an ive brought it out today and it started fine. She gets 100 miles on the M25 today.
