PD or non PD? What's the actual engine code? I'm just asking because I'm not that far away and might be able to assist.

Sorry, not been on here for a while! Thanks for the offer.

It's the PD 150, ARL code. I managed to cross-thread one of the bolts when I was putting it all back together, but it would come out with some effort.

Can't help feeling cleaning it out myself would be better than just using a spray...

As for getting the inlet manifold off, that looks like even more of a nightmare, but I suppose it makes sense to clean it out too, if the EGR is clogged.

Now I'm thinking that paying someone to do it for me is the only way it's going to get done....

Wynns EGR clean i used that when i did my EGR, make sure you wear gloves though if you do get it, it melts the carbon into liquid it is like carb cleaner but 100 times more concentrated/powerfull.

I've not seen that before, being generally sceptical of magic additives - bad experiences with Radweld and Bar's Leaks many years ago (they stopped the leak all right, and then went on to clog up the radiator and pipes).

How is it used? Do you just spray it into the inlet system and wait? I expect you get clouds of smoke and a bad smell out the exhaust, at the very least :)

Did it do a good job of cleaning out the EGR?

It's not that bad, the egr has to be the hardest part, the manifold is just six bolts and off it pops.

newbie here, just doing some reading up, keep up the good work, im learning away! thanks guys! :)

You've probably got your answers but i have used this twice and it is great stuff. hasn't fixed my limp mode, but it definitely made a difference!!!

Do you really want the "gunk" that can build up considerably in the inlet going through your engine?? Judging by some of the examples I've seen, they need to be taken off and mechanically scraped out.

Could be worth a go then, although I guess it can't shift the gunk that builds up in the EGR / inlet manifold...

the chemical they use is very strong and by the time it gets around the system and turns to vapor that increases 10 fold to clean out the Egr/crankcase ect should also help alot with turbo vain issues one reason the garage i use have got both systems to use it just for this, they have tested the system on a 330d as well.

How does it get into the crankcase - I'd hope it doesn't :)
How is it administered in the diesel case? The petrol machine appears to pump pressurised fluid into the fuel rail in place of the normal petrol flow, so in effect it substitutes the fuel, am I understanding it correctly? In this case it will not practically contact anything before the inlet valves (turbo compressors, intercoolers, throttle housings for example)
Does the diesel system work similarly, feed into the low pressure pump?

Revive Turbo cleaner

I've used revive on a cdti vectra at the weekend with sticking variable veins diagnosed by a tech2 vaux specialists.

Didnt make a jot of difference, gonne have to take the turbo off for a clean at a turbo specialist. A bit dissapointed because i read allot of good things about it.

I got my Revive starter kit from Bennets (car parts supplier) for under £50 incl VAT
