The dry DSG is suited to the small block engines, as you said I think its slightly smaller and lighter. The seven speeds is also suited to the TSi engine. Cant use this gearbox in the diesels and 2.0 engines as the torque is too high.

Getting back on topic :) I spoke to Revo today about getting a remap for the Ibiza 2.0 TDI FR that I am looking at buying as they did not have a map for it listed on their website - here is their response:

You’re correct in your assumption, we haven’t seen one yet which is why we haven’t offered software for this application yet! We offer software for the 2.0TDi CR in other platforms and see great results and are just about to release newer tuning for the 140/143 engine which produces a extra 10BHP over our current published figures!
So in short your best bet is once you have the car, pop and see your nearest Revo dealer and they can then send us all the relevant information from the car and from there we should be able to offer you software!

:D

Boo, Revo should stop faffing with existing maps and concentrate on getting a map for the 1.6tdi cr

well have you actually spoken to Revo about it? From the message they sent me I would have thought you could just take yours to a Revo dealer and get them to send Revo all the details from the engine then they can create a map for it.

Yeah, posted a few times in their forum on here, but apparently there're issues getting round the "anti-mapping" code that VAG have seen fit to put on the 1.6 crtdi (but not the 2.0tdi cr?)

Perhaps this is a good time to ask something I have wondered for a while - why do manufacturers not make the ECU already optimised for power and economy? If a tuning company can just change a few settings and then the car gains nearly 30 bhp and gives better fuel economy (or at least the same) then there must be some fairly large down side to this or the car manufacturers themselves would do the same thing originally wouldn't they?

go to rs tuning and get a live one mate will be much better for your car in the long run pal

The problem with "live" mapping is how much R&D has gone into it? How much testing of different driving cycles has gone into the software? a Dyno will never be able to fully emulate real world conditions, all our software is tested for weeks/months before it's released to the public....it's just simply impossible for smaller companies to emulate this without loosing a lot of money!

Testing a car at full load on the Dyno is all well and good but isn't the whole story I’m afraid!

Hope this helps :)

Is it likely that the 2.0 CR TDi in the new Ibiza FR will have the same issue then? I suppose you wont know until I take mine in to a Revo dealer will you?

Cheers
Chris

Very unlikely, all the 2.0CR engines are using the Bosch EDC17 ECU's I would be very surprised if SEAT used a different engine all together
