Curious now, what is this "kick down" feature you are talking about?
but doesnt it happen automatically when you put your foot to the floor?

Advanced or not, once there out of warranty some people are going to get some massive honking bills to replace them.
Assuming they will need replacing. Three years or so using them and only replaced one so far and some done some pretty high miles.
Previously fitted to middle of the range family hatches.. lets see how they handle hot hatch abuse, remaps, traffic light grand prix etc.

A collegue has a 06 plate Mk5 Golf GTi, which has done 90k. Not one problem with the DSG.
They have been fitted to the Golf GTI since 2005. I had DSG on my last Mk5 GTI. Some people have had mechatronic unit failures, which is an expensive bill, but these have mostly been picked up under warranty.
your no fun are you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Previously fitted to middle of the range family hatches.. lets see how they handle hot hatch abuse, remaps, traffic light grand prix etc.
Both use a completely different DSG gearbox, so not a fair test.
