When u put ur foot to the floor u can feel a kinda button that when pressed will "kick" the gears down to the gear that will give u the best accelration :)

I dont uses this as i find it kicks down a gear to far

Oh right yeah that does sound quite annoying actually, but I guess you can just use the paddles to change down to the gear you want to be in rather than using that - but doesnt it happen automatically when you put your foot to the floor?

Advanced or not, once there out of warranty some people are going to get some massive honking bills to replace them.

Assuming they will need replacing. Three years or so using them and only replaced one so far and some done some pretty high miles.

Previously fitted to middle of the range family hatches.. lets see how they handle hot hatch abuse, remaps, traffic light grand prix etc.

They have been fitted to the Golf GTI since 2005. I had DSG on my last Mk5 GTI. Some people have had mechatronic unit failures, which is an expensive bill, but these have mostly been picked up under warranty.

A collegue has a 06 plate Mk5 Golf GTi, which has done 90k. Not one problem with the DSG :) .

Both use a completely different DSG gearbox, so not a fair test.

True the wet DSG gearbox is tried and tested, the dry one however is still in its infancy really and works quite differently.
