You will roll if read the Evo's test!

As always they exaggerated the extent of Cupra's faults, downplayed its advantages, didn't mention all of them, made some false observations, simply ''fixed'' the whole road test!

The track test was ok,Clio won.

Then sprint times-the Clio makes 0-60 in 6.6,the Cupra-in 6.9;0-100,16.7 for the Clio.19 for the Cupra:think:

The Type R takes 7.0 seconds,Honda lies.
did they measure 0 - 100 as 19 seconds for the cupra?, how did my non remaped cupra get to 98 in 14.08? its not that much lighter now.

As far as I was aware neither the Polo GTi or Fabia vRS were going to be available in manual.

Either way i'd still rather have the DSG, not to fused about remapping tbh, its fast enough as it is.

hehehehehe was checking revo website for approved dealers and guess what? My dealer is an approved dealer, damn I better ring em tomorrow and see what they have to say hahahahahaha. If they are an approved dealer for revo then I am noe possitive they will honor warranty.

Like I said the dealer will be taking on that warranty themselves.

This is fine as long as they dont go out of business of the franschise changes etc.

I think with the conservative torque figures you’re not going to see any DSG problems and depending on how high the boost is I’m sure the turbo will be fine too.

I would be very careful about talking about certain issues on here since it is a seat forum seat will read it and you could cause yourself and your dealership issues down the line.

I agree. I just find it strange that Revo would have a list of approved dealers on their site. That tells me that certain SEAT dealers are approved to install the remap. Surely if that would void warranty NO dealers would be on the approved dealers list?! Am I wrong in thinking that?!

No they are Revo approved i.e. they have met whatever standards Revo require for them to be an approved dealer. It has nothing to do with Seat. If that Seat revo approved dealership wants to carry the warranty at their financial risk or fraudulently that’s their prerogative. You may get two Seat garages both offering Revo one may carry the warranty the other may not..

What you have to remember is not all the cars that go in there will still be within the 3 year warranty period and they can make some nice easy no risk money from selling remaps to these customers.

The line most will take is they won’t strait away jump to the remap for blame if there is any intermittent engine related issues. Since they installed the remap they have the capacity to remove the remap and continue testing to see if the problem persists.. if it does then its obviously not the fault of the map. My dealership for example would most probably blame the remap strait out and wash their hands of it..
When it comes to more catastrophic engine component failures who knows.. I’m not a technician.

All we know is that’s its 100% not a SEAT approved remap. I wouldn’t press the matter too hard with them as you may spook them and they retract the offer.

If you garage is cool and they are happy to cover the warranty then great.. I very much doubt you will have any issues within 3 years.

Just got off the phone from Revo and a Revo Dealer. Both very helpful and know their stuff.

All I will say to you is whether you go for one of these depends entirely on the sort of attitude your dealership has and if you are confident they won’t blame any old problem on the remap. Your best of using a dealership who knows enough about what they are doing to actually pinpoint an issue and fix it rather than scrap your warranty and send you on your way.

You have to way up the pro’s and cons yourself because at the end of the day the risk is yours.

Just to confirm as few things:
You can not get the 5 hour free trial
There is a 30 day money back guarantee
You can get the select and select plus box’s. The select will switch between stock and which ever fuel setting you select.
The select + has slightly limited features compared to other cars because you can’t vary your boost timing or use their software to tweak the settings. It does let you change between stock, 95, 98 and 99/100 fuel settings. The top setting should be fine to use with V power in UK conditions.

The full cost of the Revo Stage 1 with Select Plus will set you back £585.15inc VAT

Yup, I also just got off the phone with A Revo guy from A dealership which I shall not name and no it was not my dealership. He confirmed that it varies from dealership to dealership but said that if I did the map with them and then serviced my car with them ONLY, they would be more than happy to carry the warranty. provided of course I don't go down the road thrashing the you know what off the car and blowing the motor or something. So it sounds good. Now I wrestle with the idea of justifying the price for the small power gain..........................................

Been emailing a Tuning company called "angel tuning"

£310 for a remap to get the Cupra power for the FR and £60 for ITG Competition Air Filter. rather tempting.

You ain't worried about ur warranty...also wouldn't u rather go and get a live rr'd remap from rs tuning completely custom to your car and only about 50 quid more expensive

I remember a conversation from last Monday and I read up on Angel Tuning, just to see how bad they are. Trust techie. Drive away. Look on web, plenty of reviews...

Am I right in thinking that the 1.4 tsi fr engine and the 1.4 tsi cupra engine are both the same engine hardware? Meaning that the only difference between 150 bhp and 180 bhp is the software/ecu? And, if this is true, is it possible to remap the fr ecu with the Revo Cupra software? I'm slightly confused
Sorry for the thread highjack.

Thanks

Ian :)
