I wonder if anybody can offer a little advice. I'm currently setting up my stage 1 Revo (non linear map) 2005 LCR with an SPS and Liquid Gauge.

Not many modifications to the car engine wise (80mm SFS TIP, green panel air filter, resonated Cobra cat back exhaust, colder heat range 7 NGK plugs and Millers CFS Nanodrive 5w40 oil).

So, observations so far running SPS settings of Boost 7 & Timing 3:

1. Boost is spiking above sensor threshold of 22.3psi (1.55bar) Vs what looks like requested boost of 1.25bar. Could this be an N75 valve problem?

2. Exhaust gas temps are reaching over 950 deg centigrade (seen 980 at redline). Does this mean I'm running too lean AFR's? Could this be linked to the N75 again, i.e. overboosting resulting in too lean a mixture?

3. Seeing MAF peak flow on 212grams per second. I think this seems about right for stage 1?

4. Max torque (which the liquid gauge is supposed to calculate from MAF flow of 288 foot pound).

Aside from any comments on the above anybody's experience with the Revo settings via SPS and the results (Dyno, liquid or otherwise) would be interesting!

Thanks all!!

the boost you see is normal revo boost delivery. it will go >1.5bar spike by some... on initial spool. thats what revo code normally does..

you can confirm afr with your liqui
unless you have a fuel pump issue, the fueling on revo will be correct

My boost sees 22.4...but running stage 2
My EGTs dont go over 900c...yours sounds very high to me.
Boost 7...have you looged it with vag-com?
Im running boost 6 running WMI/Big FMIC,3"D/P...any more and i get surges..just doesnt feel right when at full chat.

Bill, thanks for your response to my questions. I'll log the AFR with my liquid. Could you give any guidance on what I should be seeing / what is safe (about 11.5?).

Re my EGT's they do seem high, any ideas what could be causing this other than running too lean a mixture, could my lambda sensor be on its way out? I've read that north of 950 deg centigrade the ECU starts to dump fuel in to cool them down.

Any advice gratefully received!

Many thanks. When the car was first set up by Vagtech it was set up with Boost 6 and Timing 5. I logged with VAG-COM but my CF's seemed to be non existent. Perhaps I should knock the boost back a notch until I can get to the bottom of the high EGT issues.

more timing may in fact reduce egt's
you can log these on your liqui

afr's would be in the 0.75 region often on revo under wot

log and report back
ideally vcds to log these @ same time, not possible on liqui

Yeh mine had little to none running boost 6...but just didnt feel right.
Like bill said..try advancing your timing a notch..and bring the boost down a bit.

Advancing the timing from 6 to 7 made a difference in temps..made it run slightly colder.

Ok, so I've not had Vag-Com out yet but done some more tests using my Liquid. Also changed SPS to B6 T5. Current using Tesco Momentum.

AFR = approx 0.80 dipping a little to .78 at redline. Does this seem ok re mixture?

Actual boost is tracking command boost almost perfectly apart from the slight spike over 1.55 bar during spool.

EGT's are still getting into the 900's however but not hitting 950 now.

Pulling very well. Seeing 215g/s.

Can't really understand why the EGT's are still high however, given its only when I'm really gunning it, close to redline hopefully it won't be a major problem?

Just fitted an 80mm Jetex cone filter, heat-shield and silicone coupler (was running the std airbox with the 80mm SFS TIP) and did some test runs with my liquid gauge. 223 g/s, 314 ftlb and 282 bhp. All sounds a bit too much for stage 1 revo (non linear map on B8 T4)?? Also hear what I think is the N75 controlling the boost a lot louder now. Any comments chaps?
