revving problems once engine warm?

hi there, anyone had the same problem as im having once engine is warm (90) i put my foot down and the revs still seem to climb when changing gear even though my foot is off the accelerator. whats going on can anyone help me please. so annoying. thanks. reply, or email me on [email protected] or even text me on 07736036685

check coolant temperature sensor, and the switch on the clutch pedal. Most likely coolant temp' sensor if you've not already changed it, mine showed similar issues.

how much are they? is that the sensor located in the radiator or the one underneath the main intake pipe. thanks

not much (less then £20ish from EuroCarParts of GSF) and correct part is green top'd these days. It's the one near the intake - it's on right hand side of engine as you look at it. google it and there are some guides to changing it for other VW cars, very very simple. Vag-com might help confirm if that's what it is, but if it's the original part there's a good chance it will go very soon anyway.

Follow your clutch pedal lever up under the dash and you'll find a small white plunger switch that is resting on the clutch pedal lever itself. This switch tells the ECU that you have pushed the clutch pedal down, and the ECU in turn drops your revs. Your switch is more than likely out of position or broken so your ECU dosnt know whats what when the clutch is pressed.

1. Check that the switch is actually there
2. Check that its screwed into position
3. Check that its plugged in

If all of the above seem ok then get yourself a new switch, part number 8DO91107A

The main problem with these switches is that they have a plastic thread which screws into a bracket under the dash. This thread gets stripped very easily and the clutch pedal lever pushes it back into the bracket which casues it to be just out of range of the pedal arm or sometimes even fall out.

If your thread is a little knackered then wrap a bit of thin tape around it to beef it up a bit.
