So had a bit of a tidy up in the shed tonight and removed some more parts off the engine

Have taken the crank seals off the block, removed the crank and oil filter housing just need to remove the oil squirters then it can go and have its rebore and clean up then give it a pick of paint ready for the new pistons :)

So once the squirters are out the block will be dropped off when I get a moment for a rebore and hopefully get my TFSI crank gear swapped over then just need the rods and pistons to go in :)

Just thought I'd give you all a little bit of an update as to what is going on as I haven't posted anything up recently

I'm currently waiting on some parts at the moment which are the coilovers, some powerflex bushes and a few OEM bushes that hold the diff in the cradle

I'm also going to replace the rear wheel bearings, ABS sensors and the rear wheel hubs themselves just for peace of mind so there shouldn't be any reason to fiddle around with the rear

I think I may give the rear brakes a clean up that I removed from the A3 Quattro maybe a lick of red paint just so they look nice and pretty for when I bolt them back on with the new rear discs

Anyway as for the parts I am waiting for these should all be here for next week so I've been told anyway!

And I've also sorted another car to use whilst the Leon will be having it's operation!

That's it from me for now but keep checking back for updates :)

Now much going on here at the moment I'm still waiting on a lot of parts unfortunately!

I'm hoping to start removing the rear seats and rear interior of the Leon this weekend coming, and then look into taking the rear floor out ready to replace it with the A3/S3 Quattro floor!

I've also got a couple of parcels :D

One of them being a genuine 1.8t 20v oil drive gear which I will be fitting to the 2.0 fsi crankshaft for my engine build

And the other being some PowerFlex bushes, still a lot more of these to come yet! These ones are for the tie bars between the rear subframe and the trailing arms

A little bit of a delay guys, I wanted to take the car off the road at the end of July so I could start the work on it unfortunately I had problems with my other car and it all set me back :(

However! The Tax and MOT both run out at the end of this month (August) so it will be coming off the road then 100% and being chopped about for it's operation!

I now have the subframe all cleaned up, just need to decide on the fact if I am going to paint it with hammerite or powdercoat it!

Also going to give the diff a good clean up and service it with new oil etc and give it a coat of silver paint with the subframe being black :)

On order are new hubs and bushes for the trailing arms once these arrive and the frames done it can start going back together and look like it's supposed to!

Great project buddy, if I was you I'd paint the sub frame as I had all my rear arms powder coated and it doesn't last as long as you'd think. It chips really easy, after one year they looked like they'd been on the car for about 10years. If you're going to paint them use Por 15 it's unbelievable stuff. Here's a link for the stuff.

I painted some rear shocks with it and it still looked like new two year on through the really bad winters. I'll be watching you're engine rebuild very closely as I'm having to rebuild my K1 after it melted a piston so if my bores and head are ok it's getting forged.

Damn how did you melt a piston on the K1? That's pretty mad! My engine build will be a slow build to be fair as we're currently in the middle of moving etc and kids birthdays and xmas lol but I will be plodding along and will keep you all updated

Great effort, especially doing it all on your own!

Thank you, I did think about just taking the car somewhere to be done but it's never the same as doing it yourself. Also at least at the end of it all I can say it is my work :)

wow a lot of work

Sure is a lot of work! But I'm pretty damn sure it will be worth it

Also myself and the other half are currently debating to go for a track style build or keep OE looking and have it as a sleeper! :D

More pictures will be up soon guys ;)

So I decided to paint the parts rather than powdercoat them as I said previously.

Gave the frame a coat of etching primer

Then gave it a couple of coats of normal grey primer

Now gonna give it a coat of hammerite smooth then start getting the bushes and things all back together :)

time to start cutting your car open isnt it.

Yes very soon :) it's been awkward at the moment as I'm juggling things with moving house etc so at the minute the car is in a standard 8ft wide garage with no electricity!

But my workshop should be ready within the next two weeks once its in there I will then be removing the axle and start cutting! lol
