Dont fancy a CAI though too low down as most people do, it gets flooded by work in the winter..........who's going for a bonnet scoop then??lol

You could just hook it into the standard scoop. The restriction is more in the tube that feeds into the right hand side of the air box (assuming it's the same on the TDi). Replace that with, say, an 80mm tube, enlarge the opening on the air box and join it to the standard inlet and you should see some gains :)

Very interested to see how it all goes with your car Chris.

I'm still undecided what to do about mapping mine.

I'll update on Saturday - and provide figures when I get it on a RR :D

Thanks for the input guys

Olaf - A remap in whatever form is the best mod you can do :D

How you finding the vibration from the dogbone mounts...?

Didnt no dogbone caused any problems.

Good luck wi the remap Chris.

HOLY $HIT !!!!!!!!!!

Pete - what have you done ???

I thought the last map was good, this is now insane, it's truely a brown trouser map........

Went down Sat morning & Pete did his magic & took me out for a road test, logging the temps via Vagcom.

Temps were fine, they didn't even go into the 30's which was good :)

Pete & Snowy also fitted the front strut brace which was very nice of them - I wouldn't have had the balls to drill holes in my strut tower !! The Sparco brace is a big improvement over standard, it doesn't even go anywhere near the engine cover, so no vibrations either - big bonus !!

With the recent mods now, I can't see my new front tyres lasting the 25k the old one's did lol

Top work again Pete - thanks again for what you guys did, always top notch work & highly recommended !!

You'll have to get that RR installed and we'll get a RR day sorted..........

Good stuff, sounds like Pete has worked his magic again then :D

Hurry up and get it RR'd though, I wanna know what it's producing ;)

Definetly want to see what you are producing now Chris.

Gives me something to aim at!

You sound a very happy boy :)

What's next then Chris? I don't think you've spent enough on the car recently, so what will you be modifying next? ;)

lol - thats it now.......

Well......as soon as I get this flippy key cut right (they messed up the 1st go, but I've coded it all and the central locking works......)

I was tempted by an exhaust, but I want a motorbike instead now, going in for my lessons & license.....

Nice name for a good map "brown trouser map" :)

Glad your happy again m8 and thanks for the write up.

As always m8, if there is ever any problems give me a shout,

of course thats not an offer for changing your boxers tho. :D

Regards pete

Hi Chris,
Pete remapped my LCtdi a few weeks ago.

He gave me a 'clutch friendly' remap, (infact I think we used the very same one as a strarting point) lifting the torque up the revs a bit and so far so good. It was a definate improvement over the cheepo box I had on before, and I'm more than happy with the results.

He'd just done your second remap, and said you were both happy with the results, and, that your LC still delivered a nice driveable power.

So how did it compare to your 1st 'clutch friendly' remap? would you guess at about 10bhp extra? and does it come on song lower down the range?

I'm wondering if i should do the suspension first, or get the clutch upgraded and revisit Pete and take him up on the free upgrade offer. Both would make me smile, but as my mate say, i'm better on the straight bits.
