Running in a FR TDI

Hi everyone i have an 08 FR TDI 550 its only has 3k on the clock but was round at a mates house who has the normal FR TDI its got about 10k on the clock so i took it out for a spin and it seems to be a slight bit quicker then mine.

I was wondering is this because my engine hasnt been fully run in so it may not be working to its full performance.

there's loads of info on running in a diesel in the TDI FAQs but in short:
Rule 1: Warm it up properly before giving it the beans
Rule 2: Dont granny it
Rule 3: Enjoy

Im at 14k and its definitely loosened up a bit now also getting better mpg AND spg!
