Hi all, could really do with some suggestions as I know the 17544 error code can mean ALOT of different things. Ive got a 180bhp Cupra AUQ on a 05 plate, the only four things added to the car are Forge 007p DV, K&N 57i, psi Boost guage and a Scorpion Non-resonating Cat-back stainless steel exhaust system.
Since Ive had the exhaust fitted, every third day nearly I get the 17544 error code on my Vag-Com for Long term fuel trim, Bank1 "Lean":wtf:. I reset the code after trying things like looking for vacuum leaks and cleaning the MAS. I got in touch with Scorpion and they suggest a Stage1 remap would cure this as it started when the exhuast was fitted, so I called my local tuning centre and they quote £350 for a stage1 but say the problem is more likey due to the Lambda sensor being damaged when the exhuast was fitted. Most times I go back to the garage and say there is something not right with the car they say "oil from the K&N on the MAS", after much research on this K&N STRONGLY deny any such problem and call it an "urban myth"
Ive checked forums on the subject of 17544 error code and done my best to check for most things, I only have a basic OBDII reader and dont think I can look at measuring banks.

Any suggestions would be very much apreciated.

cat back shouldnt have changed anything so suggesting a remap is just daft.

maf could be damaged through cleaning, the KN should be fine if new as they aren't over oiled from the factory' I use the same filter.

youd be better off getting a vag specialist/tuning garage to look at it and check the sensors/ exhaust fitment. Could be coincidence but it still needs sorting.

They shouldn't have had to disturb the lambda sensors when fitting the cat-back as they are both located in the downpipe - get it checked out from someone who knows the car.

Have you tried driving for a few days with the MAF unplugged? The ecu will then use the Boost Pressure sensor (MAP) to work out fuelling requirements. When it does this the car runs slightly richer than normal, would be worth a shot to see if anything changes.

You have Vag-com though - why not log the airflow readings from the maf?

Hi all, so I took the car to my local tunning center Corten Miller, really great place if anyone lives in Lincolnshire. So after some diagnostic tests and some searching a split inlet manifold breather pipe has apparently been the cause of the problem.
So what I'll do is post up some pictures of where as I did a visual check myself and this pipe/split was well hidden until pointed out.
Think also I'm going to start replacing the original rubber hose with some silcon hosing and see how we go.

That's what happened on my lcr, the one under the inlet mani, I just ripped it all out blanked off the tip and fitted a catch can, happy days and better boost after as well.

Breather pipe issue - can you tell me which one it was?

Hi, I have this problem too, checked all over from the pipe, but cannot find any that are split. Could you let me know which one you found please.

Thanks you.
