they can only fob you off if the warranty has expired, the boot has been resprayed, if they can prove the rear window has been removed or if the rust is due to a chip in the paint.

they checked my panels and only the roof, boot and one of the wings was orignal paint...to my suprise lol

The first cupra I looked at had a big line of rust along the bottom of the rear window, it was on a black 2K model, was pretty bad and the guy had to take out the back window to fix it

morning, i've contacted my local seat dealer this morning regarding this issue as i have a small amount of corrosion on one of my rear arches. i was told that there is one warrenty for paint and one for bodywork but the duration of both is 8 years. they said run the car up for an inspection and they will see what they can do, but it will be a couple of week's before i get time, but i'll post up the out come weather it's good or bad.

Yes its true as i have rust on my boot an in the process of gettin it done through the dealers. They wanted to touch it up to start with, but i wouldnt let them as all the boot needs paitin an the window needs to come out. So just waitin to hear from them now

what year is your ibiza is it more than 6 years old? i rung up and they said that mine was beyond the warranty cos they were both nearly 7 years old. They said the leons had a longer warranty.

can anyone back this one up

No - this is wrong. It's 6 years on the Ibiza as I had mine done in December last year (the boot lid) and it only covered corrosion from inside out and not stone chips or road debris (as you would expect).

The guy inspecting mine seemed to think it was because of the spraying process and the fact that the back of the car gets less paint as it moves along the line (as he showed with his paint micrometer!).

The other thing that is worth checking is if the rear screen has been changed as this can cause it to go as well!

what is anti perforation warranty when its @ home

It describes rust from the inside out. Basically manufacturing faults where the rusts starts internally and moves out rather than say a stone chip where the rust starts on the outside and goes in - which is what they do not cover.

And as said before it is definately 6 years unfortunately.

Every dealer I ever spoke to said six (this was a few years back) unless they've changed all their car's to ten now?? If they tell you its ten and accept your car for work they only have themselfs to blame haha!
