I have a MY15 Cupra with standard Nav. Reading the manual it claims you can insert a post code in the 'town' field however, whenever I try this it inserts street names and wont let me proceed with a code. What am I doing wrong, any help will be appreciated. By the way I also have icons showing on the map identifying hospitals, petrol stations and a few others, any idea how I stop these from showing?

Thanks in advance.

When the box appears to enter the town details there should be a box marked PostCDE or similar, this will allow entries of postcodes

Button appears at bottom left when you press 'town'.
As for icons, its in the set up menu to turn them on or off.

Thanks for that and Kazand, all obvious when its pointed out. Whilst looking through the vast array of menues I noticed I have auto reverse lowering mirrors and auto fold mirrors! I can see the mirrors move now, never noticed before however they dont auto fold, Im assuming that should happen when you get out and lock the car as long as its activated in the menu. I prefer to do that manually as and when required so not overly bothered.

Again thanks for your help. Dont think Id ever of spotted the post code tab ☺

Be warned, when entering postcodes, its not obvious what to do.
Example BS55 4BQ.
It will only allow BS55 initially, you then need to enter a space character, by pressing the button with several 'squigly' characters on it to enter the space, then go back to numbers and letters to complete the process.
That way all 7 character postcodes can be entered. Totally mad in comparison with TomTom, but it works.
Dreadful explanation, but I hope it helps.
I had to go back to my dealer for a training session.

Thanks for all the help guys. Would never have worked the post code out and Ive managed to clear the icons. Whilst finding how to turn the icons off I noticed I have side mirrors which dip when reversing and auto folding mirrors. The mirrors dip, not to any useful position but the mirrors do not autofold. Not a problem as I can sstill do them manually but strange either way.

Again thanks for the help.

You need to set the mirrors to where you want them... put the stalk in the L position, stick it in reverse then adjust to where you want it. When you drive forwards or turn engine off it will reset to where it was before. As for the folding mirrors, press and hold the lock button when you lock the car next.

Car running - mirror adjuster pointing to LEFT mirror - select reverse - left mirror will dip - set the mirror dip position whilst still in reverse.

Cheers guys, ran straight out and tried it, all good now! What did we do before forums??? We probably used to get decent manuals!

Same here.

I'm guessing the dealer has discovered a way to use the town entry area for postcodes because they don't know that there is a postcode button.

I'm pretty sure he used the postcode button in the town entry; but heh, as long as we can all enter postcodes by any method we are happy.

Never had to enter a space, can enter the whole postcode as one.

Space..... the final frontier..... no , I have no need of entering those spaces man. Its a no space zone ..... ;)

all those spaces we're not having to enter are surely being collected and stored at the National Space Centre at Leicester.....

had to drive a visiting American bigwig up the M1 a few years back and he couldn't believe we had one!

anybody know what it really is??

thanks Tony this took me a while to figure out its less than intuitive and I still don't understand why after entering the postcode it doesn't display the road name like every other sat nav I've ever used especially as the road names are in its database which I know because the mfd nav function shows the name of roads I'm on including the one which I tested quirky but seems to work

never had any issue entering full post codes.

press new destination

press town

then press the "pstcd" button on the bottom left of keyboard

then enter the full postcode you want to navigate to.

thanks for your reply Deano. I've done that bit I was just expecting it to list the road or street name which it has matched to the postcode which has been entered. all sat nav systems which I have previously used listed the roads for the postcode which was being entered which is useful if you have been given a postcode which is slightly wrong
