Scala Radio replacing Aura?

I have just bought a Scala Radio to replace my Aura in my Leon. The first difference I noticed is that they are a different facia widths! So I have ordered the correct side blanking plates, but having pissed about with the cables for an hour as they are so short, I managed to plug it in. Thing is, it shows there is power to it (flashing LED) but it wont switch on. But the display light will flash breafly when I press the on button. This radio is in full working order I have been assured, as it is a reconditioned one.
Does anyone know if the wiring is different or something:shrug:

check the red and yellow power cables coming from the dash with a multimeter mate. You could also try swapping the bullet connectors with these two cables although I'm not too sure if that would solve your issue as that tends to be related to saving the units settings.

Wiring shouldn't be different, but that sounds suspiciously like it's not seeing enough power

Maybe the IGN wire's loose/not plugged in completely and it's only getting the constant 12v to the memory ??

(the vehicle wiring itself will be putting out enough power, but maybe the headunit can't run through it's constant 12v pin alone)

Could be. SEAT don't give much excess wire to play with! I was concerned about how much I had to pull the cable and contort my hand to get it in there!

I think I have found the problem:

I got the plug connector diagram for my specific Leon and compaired the Scala pin arrangement to the car's. There were a few differences! The +12v pin is swapped with the power to the arial and the CD data lines are swapped over. Why these would be different I do not know, but I will be testing them to see if it works ;)

An ISO connector is a standard fitment, only thing to change sometimes is the red and yellow wires, hence they are on bullets on the radio loom.

Very strange.

Interesting. I didn't notice any bullet connectors, unless their all wrapped up in that cotton tape. Further investigation required......

Ha! If only my cables could stretch that far from the dash! I can get them as far as the opening!!
I might have to swap the connection over in the radio, if I cant get any more cable out of the dash. looks like this is going to be a weekend job

Gutted mate! Make sure there's nothing catching the loom as it may come out more than you think?

It's annoying. You buy a headunit thinking - oh this will be easy to install but sometimes when it comes down to it, it's not.

Took me about 4 days to fit my current head unit lol. I was a bit of a dafty with it though :D (thanks lee)

Your right. Over the times I have done modifications and changes etc on this car, I have learned that there is no such thing as a 'simple job' lol
