Great job as always Bill and it was really good to see some of the MK2's run and make big power and nearly all K1's there too, I thought they were supposed to be the rare ones?

Thanks for fitting me in at the end and making some adjustments since it's always nice to see the car is running well. Good to talk to you as well since it always reminds me how little I know.

Next time I think I need to bring more food!

Nice meeting too! I left early for food...was starving and cold :( but other than, I got what wanted :) Thanks again!

Sounds like a good meet and people had fun :)

Were any conclusions drawn from the Revo v APR debate ? Or were there any other surprises on the day ?

pinch of salt on badgerwagens peak torque figure as it was a spike.. plot reveals a 300-310lbft level as more sustained

Interesting reading there Bill

The Revo stage 2+ boys lower than your stage 2 by a big margin , did you fiddle the run just for you lol

The APR stage 2+ maps seem to be consistent.

Lol.. no fiddling.. Its very consistent when it gets chucked on the dyno.
Power vs boost vs heat output and subsequent torque is whats going on
Mines a stage 2 revo.. not a + and not on max settings either as that hurts peak power.

You can have too much boost and just because you can dial a REVO up to 9 does not make it the best setting ;) Too much boost = too much heat, and rejected ign timing from excessive cyl temps, which hurts top end power. The TFSi react exactly as I see the 1.8t's I tune more of... Treat them "right" and they reward.. Shove it up em and they push back at you..

APR cars, on assorted versions of code I dont pretend to know, did vary between the APR cars. Some obvious map sensor scaling changes between a couple of the apr cars which ran.

In general terms APR have more torque as they run more mid range boost, but the std hardware turbo/actuator wise will result in everyone maxing out their turbos at the same point duty cycle wise. On std actuator it can only do what it can do, and all the softwares apart from one mutant revo one were max'd >5500rpm in terms of n75% and resultant boost. The plot on cheungys shows that very well boost plot wise.

Less torque from the revo's on avg but they held a little more power top end.

Different approaches by the respective tuners..
ALL of them surge like a mofo however.. Seems its a 2283 comp wheel thing as we get the same on k04-02x hybrids

Can someone confirm what version of APRs are on the respective cars to annotate the results more accurately? I dont remember what was what.

Usually like to stay discreet about the Leon hehe

mark cousins 341.5 333 APR 2+ (v3.4 Latest Map from APR)
david cheung 345.9 338 APR 2+ (104ron (old)Map using 50% Meth)
david cheung 344.4 359.3 APR 2+ map2 ("Test" HiBoost Map also with Meth)

For the record I don't drive a Cupra and the 3.4 is not available (still in the development stages) or something along those lines...I could be wrong but whatever ;)

The APR stage 2+ maps seem to be consistent.

You can clearly see on Bill's plot that the torque spike hits 350 lbft then drops straight down to 310 lbft.

The stage 2+ cars have over 320 lbtf for 3,000 rpm.

As Niki always says, look at the area under the curve and not the peak numbers.

I have made my spike worse because I have wound my actuator up - haha

power figure however is pretty decent I think in the same company.. from a lowly stage 2 :)
More boosts = more cyl temps = hurts things as they rev higher

there's more in it.. but there's something holding it back I think, as it did not react to more boost when I asked more.. It did more but did nothing with it.

Wondering about my miltek

Will be interesting to see if back box removal frees up some ponies. 2.75 inch is apparently restrictive.
Very interesting to see the power outputs yesterday and the obvious has to be stated that any software that has the ability to alter boost and timing to suit seasonal, climatic and modifications is always going to be more adaptable than a fixed one size fits all code.

APR need to bring back VTune, I used it to good effect on the 1.8T code which offered far more adjustments than REVO at the time.

Both codes are excellent but the owner of the vehicle should have means to tweak it, just my 2p:hide:

Overlay top 4 by peak power and peak torque.... interesting to view boosts vs outputs etc...

Trouble is, some folks think 9 is best regardless of seeing the results of it on a dyno...
less is more... as evident in terms of peak power vs mid range torques
