Evening people :)

A few months ago, I walked past my car with a scaffold pole & caught the front wheel arch :(

I've just had a quote to sort it out, and was quoted £75

I got a local chip repair guys out & he said I needed to re-spray a section of my front wing - I asked him about filling it in and he said it wouldn't work.

Now, the scratches are not that big, and although one of them has taken it down to the metal (the horizontal one), the other is much lighter, and both are not that big.

Here are some pics - sorry about the quality, the car is too shiney for once lol

Is this price reasonable ? Do I need a spray or a touch up? Can I do it myself ? Do I get a quote from someone else ?

Any input appreciated,

Thanks

Chris

to sort it out properly the wing would be painted blended into the bumper and door othewise youll get colour mismatch especially when the car gets older especially as the car is black and its not going down the road of touching that up it will stand out like a sore thumb:)

Some of the mobile people can still do a damn good job. They will spray a localised area instead of the entire wing and can usually mix paint in the back of the van to ensure a good colour match.

Don't be afraid to give them a go. It wont be as good as getting the entire wing resprayed, but it will be good enough for you not to notice the work. I had this done on my Celica when some scrote keyed the side of it and I was impressed. Cost me £150ish from memory.

Yea, he will mix the paint in his van.

So you reckon this price is OK then? There goes my short shifter............

I feel like a right nob now attacking my car with a freaking scaffold pole !!!!!

£75 sounds very reasonable indeed, IF its a good job. I'd take a punt for that but if you are not happy then say so.

Its easy to do and the expletives released when you realise what you have done to your pride and joy are comedy gold !

Feel sorry for you bud....

The only concern I have is the colour not matching/blending in..........

Will it look really crap if it's touched up rather than re-sprayed ?

But if the price is good & it gets it sorted I'll be happy, cheers guys.

Chris

You'll probably find they paint more than just the affected area, just not the entire panel. So they will make sure the paint is matched well and blended in to the existing paint.

My Celica was red and 5 years old when I had it done, so not the easiest colour to match, but they did a very good job indeed.

Well it's all done !

Need to leave it for 2 days before I give her a good ole wash & polish.

I think that the paint looks too dull myself, but will have a proper look when it's all be buffed up !

Thanks for the advice fellas :)

Good stuff. You might find when it's polished and treated properly it looks nicer. Get some before and after pics up to compare when it's all done :)
