Detailing noob here.. I was under the impression that you can wash and wax and THEN seal the paintwork.

Am I wrong in that assumption? I just read somewhere that sealant bonds and wax covers which would mean that I wasted a lot of time today waxing and then sealing because the sealer wont have bonded to the paint lol [:@]

Can someone set me straight? Should you: wash > dry > seal > wax?

If so, should I thoroughly wash all of it off, re-seal and then wax again?

Other way around, wax over sealant. If you've washed and waxed, I'd leave it depending on the products used.

Seal then wax. But not straight away! Ideally 24hrs after, in a garage so not contaminated!

Example. Ag extra gloss protection, then hd wax

24 hours later, ? really.
30-60 minutes should be fine for a proper sealant

Mitch, yes some sealants like waxes need to 'gas'. Thats unless your super sealant doesn't need to?

I let the sealant cure for an hour and then finish with wax. I find any more time in between doesn't make that much difference to the quality of the finish.
