Hello,

I picked up a set of seats for the leon and put them in last night. Back seats, no problem, front, no problem until I noticed that the connectors were different for the new seats. At that stage, I had most of the work done and didn't want to put the old seats back in so continued but left the connectors unplugged knowing that the airbag light would come on when I reconnected the battery. What I want to know is where do I go from here? I stupidly cut the wiring on one of the connectors from the old seats too close to solder to the new seats as I thought I would be able to pop the wires out without soldering. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do as they seem to be unmoveable. If not, could I buy one and attach it myself. The other one is ok as I have enough wiring to attach. On a more important note, am I going to have problems when I attach these and reconnect the battery afterwards. I am afraid or releasing the airbags and causing more problems. Any help much appreciated on this.

Thanks, David

All work on airbags should be carried out with the battery disconnected. Personally I just switch the ignition off if i remember to. You wont have any exploding airbags unless you create an electrical circuit through them.

Do the plugs only have 2 wires to them? or are they a multiplug? Never really looked at them on mine.

Personally I would get 2 airbag repair looms which basically come with both sides of a plug and lengths of wire, then cut the old plugs off and solder them in. It does depend on your soldering skills though, you havent got to be a professional but a good job is required so as not to create high resistance in the loom.

This is what we do on BM's when they get a high resistance in the plug and it has to be replaced and it works a treat.

A dealer may be able to help, it may be that they can only supply a plug housing and individual wires.

Ours are a BMW/Mini part which i'm sure you can imagine doesnt rank them as that cheap.
What are the new seats out of?
