Anyone else see this? From the official Seat website the quoted figure is 0-62mph in 4.9s for the Cupra 300! In their latest news piece.

Source (second paragraph from bottom): http://www.seat.co.uk/about-seat/news-events/events/seat-ducati-motogp-world-championship.html

The official Ducati Team car, the SEAT Leon CUPRA 300, is the most powerful in the history of the Barcelona-based brand. It is also the fastest, as it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

If this is indeed true, I'm in love.

Edit: Noticed it's 0-62mph in fact and not 0-60!

I would imagine it was the 4drive as I think the 300 hatchback is nothing more than a tweak in style, tech and a remap to add 10bhp that the 280 or 290 already probably put out.

The 4.9 sec time is only for the ST with 4 wheel drive. The 3 door (SC) and 5 door does 0-62mph in 5.7 sec with the DSG due to lack of traction from the front wheels.

Don't know why they didn't put 4 wheel drive on the hatchbacks, that would make the Leon a significant competitor to the M140i [B)]

Auto Express tested the SC DSG Cupra twice and got a timed 5.5 0-62 in the 16th April 2014 and 4th Feb 2015 issues, and that was on the original Bridgestone tyres. Not seen a better time anywhere yet. The best they got from a 5dr DSG 290 was 5.6 in the 13th July 2016 issue.

Same as the pre-facelift S3 @ 300ps that did it in 4.9 seconds and that's with Quattro. The new facelift S3 310ps does 0-62 in 4.5 seconds

I don't think they'll ever make the hatchbacks 4wd because it would be a massive rival for the S3/R at a discount price. Shame really

The Facelift Golf R and S3 also get the new DSG 7speed box I believe. Which is a shame but we all know the politics of the group.

There's still time. I'm holding out for some positive MY18 or MY19 news. :D

Surely the 290 is quicker than that. FFS my stage 1 184FR diesel does 0-60 in 5.6!

The 290 has just the same motor, no extra BHP it is all just a marketing ploy. The 280's that have been put on a dyno all had over 300 as standard anyway, hence the new name now, and the reason no better time has been recorderd.

I didn't know any official times had been released for 5 door or sc .... just comment that it should be at least a tenth second off the 290

Yes this is true, makes the car more "economical". It's a shame that the Leon is always behind it's cousins

Not always, Leon got the led headlights before most others in the group :)
So there's always hope :D
