My brand new 8 month old FR has just got epic light and emissions light up with loss of power.

Any idea what it could be? The seat assistance is on their way.

The chap came and plugged in diagnosis tool.

Came back with
P334a and p334a+ fault codes
Charge pressure actuator position sensor electrical malfunction.

He cleared they codes and all seems fine and also went on test drive.

Advised me to get dealer to check it over.

Anyone know what the fault means?

Mine has done this a few times in the last couple of weeks. She's in the garage as I type being looked at! I think others have had this issue too. Here's a link to a thread from the end of last year. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=370263 Usually turning off and on again stops whtever is going on and the car runs absoulutely fine in between, but the light came on along with limp mode 3 times in under 10 miles on Monday, accompanied by the emissions light. She was perfectly fine yesterday!

Cheers four the link, I'll check it out.

Cars only done 8500 miles so was quite surprised that it developed this unusual fault but it does seem to pop up a lot on other peoples car. I really enjoy my FR. I've managed to get it booked in next Tuesday just to get it checked over.

Candywhite have they fixed your car today?

Yeah, they just got back to me - the ECU needed reprogramming and it was a problem with the pressure sensor thingy - sounds like the same as yours. I can't remember exactly what they said though, and I am not very technically minded! They said they have road tested it several times, but I found it only did it when in use for more than an hour at a time, so I guess I will have to wait and see as I doubt they drove it too far.

Cheers thanks for the info. Hopefully mine will just be a software update.

Out of interest anyone know what faults those codes relate to?

When my car was returned to me I asked if there was any paperwork to go with it and was told that I could have a copy of what was sent to the warranty dept forwarded to me. I thought it would be useful to share on here, but I also like to keep a record of anything that is done to my car. On the plus side, my car was valeted which was fab as she desperately needed a wash!

Cool.

I'll let you know how I get on Tuesday just in case anyone else has future issues with theirs.

With a new car you would think it would have software updates or be called in for update.

I've asked for courtesy car which I wonder what I'll get :).

I would be really interested to find out what the fault codes mean so I'm prepared before I go with the car on Tuesday. Anyone in the know what these codes refer to?

Well an update. The car reproduced the same fault again after couple days not driving it due to being away. I couldn't get it out of limp home mode. Had to call the AA again.

Not happy. Got a courtesy car at moment and see what dealer says tomorrow. I've got the basic 1.2 Ibiza and boy do I miss my FR already:-(.

Fault codes this time are p334 and p334a all to do with the charge actuator position malfunction and its associated sensor.

Anyone know what a charge actuator is?

Anyone know what a charge actuator is?

It's the elctrically operated wastgate. There is also a hall effect sensor which tells the ECU how far open the wastegate is. There was a modification which added a spacer between the actuator and the turbo body but that is probably nothing to do with it as your car is relatively new.

The sensor is probably giving the ECU a nonsense reading.

Thank you networkman is this a serious fault? Its an intermittent fault and when the aa guy reset the fault the car sounded and felt normal so I suppose its a sensor issue.

Maybe my car never received the mod. I've also heard there is a software update too but it just seems odd 8 months of ownership and no issues until now.

After driving the 1.2 base model as courtesy car I certainly miss my FR. They are hoping to look at it today if not it will be tomorrow.

Garage just rang to tell me that there was no fault found which is bit annoying and odd. Totally appreciate that they can't fix a fault that's not showing. Hoping its just one off.
