Seat Ibiza 1.4tsi FR 61 plate oil question!

Ladies and gents,

I have just had the oil warning light pop up on my Ibiza. I am a massive dunce and was wondering if any of you wise folk know of the best oil to purchase to top it up?

There are a lot of figures bandied about and this truly is not my strong suit!

Any tips? The car has done just under 5k.

Ta,

Ross

mate, you really need to not let the light come on. damage WILL be done if it does. you need to be checking on the dipstick regular

I know I should, no excuses. Things slip your mind though.

Just topped it up now anyway.

I take it you know about the oil consumption on these mate ?
Is the car under warranty and have you made Seat aware your car is having this problem ?

My mates uses a litre of oil every 500-600 miles he reckons.

I had similar consumption problems as you guys when I first bought the car, around 1 litre every 1000 miles or less.

Funnily enough when I had it remapped, serviced and changed the spark plugs (a year ago now) it was transformed. Still drinks oil more than the average car, but I think I've topped up less than 3 litres in around 10000 miles, excluding a full oil change at around half way.

I don't know if it's a similar story for others, but if it is, perfect excuse to remap :)

Mapping with oil consumption on these is a total gamble, it seems to either cure the problem or kill the engine. I don't really see how it works out that way but I guess it's just another thing on the list in the tale of the oil fairies

I check mine at least once a week without fail. The amount of oil it goes though i can't afford not too, at least it wont need an oil change done
