Seat Ibiza Cupra standard brakes pad upgrade

Just bought a VW Polo GTi and the first thing I've noticed is that the standard brake pads are pretty woeful at wiping off speed during 'spirited' cross country driving.

VW drivers clearly aren't meant to drive their cars hard as they don't offer the 312mm brake upgrade from the factory like Seat. With this in mind, what upgrade pads are currently available? I've searched the main producers (Pagid, Mintex, Ferodo, etc.) but they don't list pads for the Seat Ibiza Cupra Mk V, which I assume uses the same braking hardwear (discs, calipers, etc.).

I'm guessing the braking system isn't brand new for the Seat Cupra/VW GTi/Skoda VRs, so what should I be looking for? Also, has anyone fitted braided brake hoses with the standard pads? If so, how much difference did this make, as my initial thoughts are the standard rubber hoses don't help matters...

Grateful for any help you can offer.

Cant tell you about the differences, but I know that Ferrodo DS2500 is around. Few people drive with that.

Brake pads are fairly unique, they are ATE calipers but the pad is a different shape to the regular ATE brakes as used by the TT/S3 etc in the 312mm guise hence the need to change the calipers when upgrading.

i thought the same of the fabia vRS brakes as well.i thought they weren't up to the job on the road so i dread to think how they would perform on track. I am quite harsh on them though lol.

ill prob be going for the 312mm upgrade. Huge availability of high performance pads/hoses and cheap discs. this keeps consumables pricing down.

DS2500s aren't amazing. they are definitely better than stock, but i wouldn't go as far as to say they are amazing. good for fast road, not the best if your into regular trackdays though

if you were to try the likes of the Pagid RS4-2 or mintex M114 pads, you'd find them must better when used hard. Another issue with DS2500's is when very hot they can spit pad material over your wheels etc. Me personnaly id be considering the pagids/mintex or maybe the DS3000 pads

alot of perfomance pads dont come with pad ware sensors so you need to bodge the sensors on your car to stop the warning light coming up on the car. only requires a little bit of a cable

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure how long I'm going to run the car yet, so don't want to go down the route of the 312mm upgrade, as much as I'd like too. However, the pads do need to be changed, so for those of you running upgrade pads on the standard brakes, what is the part number/code/model compatibility I should be looking for when searching for upgrade pads. In particular, I'm thinking of Ferodo DS Performance, DS2500 or Pagid RS 4-2's, so any pointers to the pads I need would be gratefully received.

Finally, any thoughts on the above shortlist? I'm probably not going to do much track work, mostly fast road, but still usable day to day (i.e. don't squeal when cold!)

Thanks.

Sounds like i'm in a similar boat mate. I want better brakes but i have no plans to trackday my car cus i already have summit to do that in. I want some brakes for very fast road pace. I work at skoda SEAT and can get hold of the parts i want i just want the part numbers so i can start pricing the whole job up. Anyone help?

Im wanting to buy seat racing breaks how much cost for the parts from seat you reckon.
Disks pads and callipers

Well covered already but calipers are now over 500 each IIRC, price was 170 each cost to me when I did them for ED ages ago, price has bounced three or four times since then as people ordered them I guess as it was cheaper than the factory option.
