Hi first post here :)

Girlfriend recently bought a new Ibiza fr in alor blue from local dealership, ended up waiting about 5 months for delivery which was a real pain, anyhow had the car around 5 months now and on the roof in the rain channels the paint is coming off and some of the mastic is coming out as well leaving holes, :( !! Took it back to the dealership and he said he'll touch it with a touch up stick!

This doesn't sound right to me, surely this is an manufacture flaw?

Where do I stand with this? Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

My FR is alor blue too and a bit older, but I have no such issue. So I think it must be a manufacturing fault and unless you have some particular atmospheric problems I'd want something better than a touch up stick!

I was thinking the same, I'll try upload some pictures later on today, the paint around the holes is also beginning to crack :(

take pictures before, take picture after and clearly state to the dealer you don't consider this a suitable fix.

If the dealer puts up any resistance then SEAT customer support?

I'm afraid you'll need to allow them to try and resolve the issue before you press the nuclear button.

I feel your pain. I've had a few warranty issues - relatively minor issues - and the service from the dealer network has been poor.

Deffo a warranty issue after all they do guarantee the paint so if it's flaking after 5 months I'd expect a proper fix or replacement don't except a touch up as you'll just be covering up an obvious floor that will come back and bite you at a later date

I have an Alor Blue FR, bought 9 months ago. I haven't seen a paintwork issue on my model . Do contact SEAT as that is a manufacturer defect if it's with the paintwork. It should be covered if you've just got the car. Ask 2 different SEAT dealerships. I found another SEAT dealership had a better service than the one I bought my car from.

Thanks for the replies :) I'll see about getting advice from another dealership and see what the best plan is :)

I have alor blue FR too, it's 5 months, usually it's a bit dirty, but when it's clean its brand spanking shiny and definiately not flaking on roof. Out of curiosity where do you park?

Or did the recent hail damage it? How often / how do you clean the car?
Is it usually under the tree where there is some bird poo and tree sap etc?

I've heard some horror stories of bird poo left for long time damaging painkwork, or if are a newbie at removing it like me (I once did with the rough side of sponge, big mistake, so many scratches on the paintwork after). it was the old car though...

Also my gf gets a telling off when she decides to put things like handbags, jacket, other stuff with metal bits on my car roof before getting in and then dragging it into the cabin...[:@] luckily these actions hasn't left any scratches as of yet...I did mention, how do you like it if I do the same to your shiny new Macbook? She has hence stopped doing this.
