Hi All.

I have a 2011 Seat Ibiza with a standard factory fitted radio unit. I also have a VW touch phone kit (model no. 000.051.473.A) installed.

What i'm trying to achieve is the ability to stream audio content from my phone to the radio using bluetooth. Now the radio unit itself does not have bluetooth capability but does have AUX in.

My question is what additional equipment do i need in order to stream audio via bluetooth? My understanding is that the radio unit will need to be in AUX mode and some kind of box or lead would plug into the 3.5mm AUX input. There is another thread on this forum that suggests using this item: amazon.co.uk/Volkswagen-000051905B-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00N5TEDUG

I'm not sure if this'll work on mine as i have the Touch Phone Kit and not the Touch Phone Kit Music
(What is the difference between the two versions in terms of equipment anyway?)

I think that the TPK-Music has an additional bluetooth module that better supports audio in terms of quality, not sure though. With my TPK i have a menu called music and there is evidence that music is being streamed to it (i can play/pause, skip tracks) but i get no audio as there is no bridge between the TPK and the radio apart from the handsfree functions. And besides if did manage to get audio to the radio the quality will probably not be great.

This is only 1 route of many (using standard non bluetooth radio and touch phone kit) and i know that there are other options available such as changing the stereo to a third party aftermarket one or using something like the Kensington LiquidAUX or something similar. I would just like to exhaust my options with the main equipment that i already have. I am not necessarily looking at the cheapest option

My phone BTW is a Nexus 5 and i have already set it up with a wireless charging magnetic mount so it would be nice to have bluetooth audio.

Looking forward to your reply

Thanks

Honestly, I'd look at replacing the head unit all together with a bluetooth one... It will be a lot cleaner.

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but it's the best option.

Supposedly the original head unit doesn't support bluetooth playback it's just for making calls etc
