I have a seat leon which was a 1.4, it has a cupra R body kit, 18 inch konig alloys, golf gti interior, good sound system ect... the car looked great but the engine was shocking and the cams needed replacing so i thought it was time for a new engine. Did some searching and decided to go for something different and as i couldn't find a leon anywhere on the net with a 2.3 v5 i went for that. Found the engine and box locally and cheap. Spent the next two weeks finding and collecting the wiring, drive components and everything else. I had a local mechanic doing the work for me after his work hours and tbh it wasn't as straight forward as he had first thought but after a couple of weeks and some other unexpected new parts the cars on the road and it was well worth it. It has a nice amount of power (i know not as much as you lot in the 300+bhp curpa's but i also don't have to worry about replacing my turbo as some point :) another thing is th car sounds amazing it has a v5 downpipe welded to a new cupra R exhaust, sounds just like a turbo scooby. Next on the to do list is a remap. All in this work, including all parts and labour has come to around £1000 maybe slightly less. To all who said it couldn't be done..... it has, and it's great :)

It's not that it couldn't be done, most said that it was not worth doing. But credit to you for doing something different.

Great stuff! Always thought the V5 is an engine they should have fitted to the Leon. Sounds much more interesting than the 4-cylinder engines and the Leon is much better looking than the boring Mk4 Golf.[B)]

I'd buy a Leon V5 if they existed:thumbup:

Huge round of applause dude, really good to hear about someone doing an 'unusual' engine conversion (IE not a standard turbo engine fit!). And for a grand you've done really well.

You need to get some posting done to get to 15, I can't wait to see what it looks like!! With regards to the remapping, I'm not 100% it'll be worth it. 10bhp and a handful of lbft isn't worth the £300 bill, in my humble opinion. But it does help smooth out the torque range, I'm not sure if you've noticed the 'hole' in the torque at around 5k rpm?

Personally I'd spend the money on getting that glorious noise out into the open air. The exhaust sounds like a good start, perhaps an induction kit might be a good second purchase if you've not done so already?

Oh that 15 post rules no good, i'll get them on my facebook and post a link. I've ordered the induction kit, should be here at the weekend, i'll probs get a remap in the next week or so, a company about 10 miles away have an offer on atm, full remap and dyno runs with print outs for £200, i'm after the smoothness and slight increase in mpg more than anything due to doing alot of motorway miles atm :)

definitely worth getting a remap at that price. Even if you dont get huge figures its worth it to smooth the power out a bit and you will still feel the benefits

sorry to take so long with the pics the cars been in the garage having it's wheels refurbed. Pic's will be up tomorrow without fail. The place offering cheap remaps in chiptunning in bradford £150 thoughout november. They claim an extra 12bhp and 20nm for my engine, possibly a couple more with the exhaust and induction + smoothness and slight increase in mpg which i think is well worth a go :-D

That's pretty good, if my car was behaving I'd be tempted to take a drive up. It would be the smoothness I would want, a slight increase in MPG doesn't mean much on a gas guzzler V5! :D

I forgot to ask, did you fit the 150BHP 10 valve or the 170BHP 20 valve?
