it's the 10v. i would have been happy with either as i can get this one upto the same power as a 170 and i'm told this one has better low down torque although i've never driven a 170... The thing that made my mind up was when i managed to get one with about 65k on it down to £160 for the engine and box! I'm sat at work atm iching to finish so i can go pick it up and fit the induction kit :)

Having driven both there is very little in it to be fair, my friends 10v had slightly more torque and my 20v has more power but real world they're almost identical. But from memory the 10v was used for more cars so is correspondingly easier (and cheaper) to source. And as you say the remap should improve it anyway.

Sod the pictures get a readers ride going! Sounds like you've already done alot to it already. You know you can turbo/supercharge the V5 engine...

Don't remember seeing anyone saying it couldnt be done just that there's not much tuning potential with that engine. But fair play to doing something different.

Yes the v5 has now been chipped, cupra R dials added, some new bbs lm rep wheels. It was on the dyno on friday but before it went on the mechanics were messing with it then it wouldn't run properly, dyno'd it anyway and it produced a very small amount of power, drove it home and it felt horrible, no low down power, sounded like **** and was jerky in low revs, they couldn't figure out why this was, we assumed it was the chip i had fitted. Anyway i was looking at the egine last night and listened to it and realised they hadn't plugged one of the ignition leads back in properly so the car had only been running on 4 cylinders.. hence why i havent put a video up. Now the car is chipped and running on all 5 again it's much quicker, sounds great and is so smooth, feels like a new engine. Cars going back on the dyno this week to see what it's actually producing.

10V is a better base for tuning than the 20V, especially if a turbo is on your list of future wants ;)

Fair play to you for getting the swap done on a tiny budget, very impressive! :D
