Hi Can anyone tell me what controls the seat Leon air conditioning system?

Im having problems with my aircon ever since I had the car washed at a petrol station. These are the symptoms Im having:

1. Air con isnt cold enough
2. High pressure side not high enough, low side not low enough (seems to fluctuate a bit from working to not working, small fan goes to high speed)
3. only small aircon fan comes on when air con is selected. The larger fan i know it works because i took it out and tested it on the bench. (fan controller??)
4. Aircon works a little better on cooler mornings traveling at 130km/h but still rubbish
5. If i squirt a hose onto the condenser it seems to work alot better

what I have done:

1. changed compressor
2. tested pressure switches
3. tested power to the compressor
4. new water temp sensor on order which should activate the larger fan (although I thought the aircon control module should switch both fans on when activated?)
5. I was suspect of the solenoid in the old compressor being faulty therefore not allowing enough gas to compress. Not a snow flakes chance in hell of getting that out.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

It sounds like the variable displacement compressor isn't varying the displacement.

Have a look sinspeed.co.uk

The Sanden PXE16 compressor has been a bit of a disaster for VAG. The article suggests that your TXV will be full of dirt. The solenoid valve can be replaced, its not too difficult but you have to take the compressor off the car.

When you changed the compressor did you get the system reverse flushed?

Driving at higher speed, running both fans and pouring water over the condenser all help to drop the temperature of the HP side refrigerant, and thus improve performance.

Hi thanks for the reply .

I was suspect of the variable solenoid in the back of the compressor being the problem. I removed the compressor dismantled it and still couldn't removed the solenoid. I took it to a machine shop where they attempted to drill, weld and slide hammer the thing out but not a snow flakes chance in hell! They must corrode in there.

So now im searching for a back half of the compressor with a new solenoid so I can have a spare one.

I have come to the conclusion the big radiator fan is unserviceable. However this has never worked since I own the car and the only problems I could detect with the system is that during summer (and I mean Dubai summer) the aircon will cut out if the car is idling for too long. At speed its not a problem and the car never overheats.

Im now suspect that the receiver drier filter is partially blocked. If this was blocked then I think the evaporator is not working efficiently enough to do its job before the refrigerant returns to the compressor.

What are your thoughts on this?

cheers
