Seat Leon Cupra R 225 BAM new clutch required

Hi

I have noticed my clutch slipping recently so am now looking to order a new one asap.

Seat have quoted £140 + VAt for a new clutch unfitted. £694 for the DMF unfitted.

I have seen two kits, by luks and Sachs both including clutch kit, DMF and hydraulic slave centre for £399. Seems very good.

I have tried posting the links to these kits below but can't at present due to not enough posts etc. Can anyone please confirm that these are the right kits for my car. It is an 05 plate 225 BAM cupra R. Also does anyone have any experience of these kits? If you search seat leon cupr r clutch on ebay both kits come up on the first page i think.

I have been advised that the flyhweel should probably be replaced even if it seems ok, purely for the fact of having 85,000 miles on the clock and the time it takes to fit the clutch, will avoid having to incurr the labour costs again if the flywheel did need replacing in a year or two, given I have been quoted 5 - 6 hrs labour. (ouch)

ANy help would be appreciated. Car is standard. I just don't want to order the wrong parts to then have to pay 60 quid surcharge if they are wrong because I am fecking skint!

Peace

;)

I just did the clutch on my LCR, it aint easy to say the least... Had to removed the box once more as had noise from concentric cyl.. :( I fitted the single mass kit from Awesome GTI so cant share experience on the kits your asking about.

on another note, my car currently has a DM flywheel. would i be able to get a single mass instead? what is the feed back pro's / con's on dual mass vs single mass? All i really can see is dual mass has more moving parts so may wear quicker.....any feedback again would be great. just about to wash the expensive devil child of vw and seat for the first time in 6 weeks.

I had a LUK clutch and DME fitted last year all seems well so far. Search for Awsome GTI clutch and SMF the is a big thread on here somewhere that's worth a read. Also get a new slave cylinder fitted at the same time as the clutch (and a LSD!).

Just wanted to update you all on clutch progress just incase it is help full for anyone in the future.
Thank you to those who offered any help and advice

The story:
Clutch slipping, seat and local garage recommending changing the flywheel at the same time as the clutch on my 85,000 05 plate cupra r 225. This is due to the labour charges so if the fly wheel went after replacing the clutch, major labour charges again. two birds one stone scenario

Seat quote: Clutch £150 + vat
Dual mass flywheel £800 + vat
Slave cylinder £30 + vat
Labour charges 5 hours @ £95 per hour + Vat
Total £1746.................**** THAT RIGHT UP THE POOPA!

So, end result is I ordered a SACHS clutch, DMF and slave cylinder kit from techniclutch (ebay)
£400 incl VAT
£300 incl VAT at local garage ........HAPPY DAYS

Everything seems fine so far. The kit was correct for the vehicle, clutch pedal now sooooo much lighter and feels like the car has a new lease of life. Has a two year warranty so will keep you posted if there are any issues in the near future.

Hope this post is useful for anyone facing the same dilemma who is not a tech and needs some help.

That price for the flywheel is absolutely outrageous. I'd definitely have gone to an alternative parts supplier, too. Any LUK flywheel compatible with the BAM engine would be fine.

If you need any more parts in the future, give David a call at SERE motors - they have a section in the forum.

Holy Moley that's the biggest pair of pants to be pulled down in history! £1700? They can poke that.

I'm looking for one myself at the moment as it seems my pressure plate is one foot in the grave.

EuroCarParts:

Luk/Sachs kit £400 (cheaper worth the 25% discount they're doing)

I've been told it's a 5.3 hour job officially according to their 'book'. So at £50 an hour, better part of £300 inc. VAT.

£700 is a damn sight cheaper than £1700.

I went for the Valeo single mass flywheel and clutch set up,
£315 I think it was, then bought the CSC separate for £50.

I fitted it myself which saved god knows how much but it was not an easy job on axle stands, I won't be in a hurry to do it again.

Mate, the clutch they sent me turned out to be faulty. Two weeks down the line I let them know. I would never ever buy from them or recommend them. Rubbish service and rubbish parts. I had to fight to get me money back and had to pay to have a new one fitted. DO NOT BUY FROM TECHNICLUTCH. Ended up with luk from my local garage man and it is fine.
