Hi guys,

Our Seat Leon 1.9tdi's parking sensors stopped working recently along with the reversing light and the dash light dimmer switch. we replaced the reversing bulb however fuse 4 blew the second we tried the ignition.

we begun unlinking the components linked to that fuse one by one, replacing the fuse and trying the ignition again to see whats blowing it. we tried everything with the exception of the adjustable & foldable mirrors as we didnt have the time to remove the door panels etc.

after we tried all this we noticed that the dash lights now remain on when the ignition is off, on top of that the buttons for the interior locking, traction control and tyre pressure reset no longer work and are not lighting up.

also worth mentioning that a previous insurance wired the black box directly into the headlight switch wiring to record speed etc. as part of the policy. when this wire was slightly moved it blew fuse 2.

any ideas what we can try?

thanks.

Take the black box out and correct the wiring for the headlight switch. Headlights are usually linked to the dash lights to tell it to illuminate etc. Can you disconnect the parking sensors control box and try replacing fuse 4 again?

Thanks, we’ve removed the black box and disconnected the parking sensor control box but fuse 4 still blows and the dash lights still stay on although do appear to eventually turn off after many many hours. Turning the car on then back off again seems to reset it , i.e the lights stay on for multiple hours before turning off.

As it stands:
Reversing light
Parking sensor
Interior lock button
Traction control button
Tyre pressure reset button

All don’t work, are they all connected?

Maybe worth mentioning that the 12v cigarette lighter slot still works along with the button to fold the mirrors which are both situated right beside the interior lock button & traction control etc.

What is the age of the vehicle, also you say 1.9tdi what's the spec level? Style? FR?

Where was the parking sensor control box?

it’s a 2009 Leon Se Tdi, the parking sensor box was in the boot tucked inside the boot rim to the left.

Gonna see if I can get a wiring diagram but might take some time to track it down. I doubt the reversing light would be linked to the interior buttons that seems silly, unless the wiring has been bodged.

Hi guys,

We narrowed it down to a control module located in the drivers side door.

Does anyone know the official name for this module?

Also we’ve been told that other modules from the exact same make and model of car won’t work, can anyone confirm this?

Any help would be appreciated.
