Hi all,

I lost my key a few weeks ago and the spare key didn't work so had to get the car picked up and taken to a local dealer. I was told it would take around 2-3 weeks for a new key to be delivered and it's now been over 3 weeks. I spoke with Seat and they said they can't tell me when the key will arrive and that it's on backorder. Just wondering if anyone knows how long this normally takes or has dealt with this before? No one seems to be bothered at the garage or Seat and I just keep getting told it will arrive when it arrives and I have this horrible feeling it's going to be weeks until it does!

Nope, 6 weeks now. Seat have also refused to give me a courtesy car as they say it’s still drivable. No one has any idea on when the key will be ready.

That's just ridiculous...for a 'key'. One of my remotes doesn't lock/unlock and the dealer has ordered a new one. If I wait 6 weeks they can have the car back! Can't program Primary User, can't update navigation maps, no navigation traffic warnings, Connect app registration incomplete. Technology may be better but the support is cr4p.

When i lost my key, i had key cover with AA and they got a key from Seat at week 3.

It's a MK4 Leon. I have spoken with AA and various other locksmiths and all of them said that as it's the new model only Seat can do it.

Week 7 now!

Well it just keeps getting better. The new lock and keys were £600 and just been told it also needs a new immobiliser which will cost £720 + VAT. All of this because I lost my key and the spare key had broke!

It's a new immobiliser identity which means you'll end up with the following

New keys
New locks
New body control module

I'd guess that's why there's such a long wait on parts ?, or has the lockset arrived and then they've realised they should have ordered a BCM too?

I guess in this case a key insurance policy may have been worth it

Yeah they didn’t realise they needed a new immobiliser until the new keys arrived.

Well it’s not over yet. Just spoke with the garage and the car now starts but the passenger door doesn’t open, so they now need to order a part for that so it can be programmed to the new unit. I feel like selling the bloody thing after all of this. I got this car last year and before that I had a 2004 ford focus which would have cost me about £100 to replace the key!!

The part they have ordered doesn’t match the serial number for my car but they said the date range matches so they’re hoping it works. I’m bloody hoping so as well!

I reckon now its easier to just pay up for online services to get everything uptoday. It's a debating point whether you end the connect services contract and just do the navi updates. I wouldn't recommend firmware updates as DIY on mib3. So by pulling out of contract you loose navigation updates, radio logo updates, firmware updates and any other connect services of use. Heater on for EVs etc.
