As for steering...that's beyond my capabilities.

The steering on the astras is no doubt electric, which is why they can do it - its literally a setting chance on the ECU (it can be changed via vagcom providing you have electric steering. Another example is the new s3, where the steering is speed sensitive, ie its heavier at higher speed, and light at low speed

edit: obviously having a toledo, you dont have electric steering ;)

steering could be a possibility of a elec pressure valve to alter feel ? wouldn't do much for the life of parts if set to ultra light all the time

4. research/look into the 2005 mustang, they have/had/planned similar idea with a choice of 125 colour shades using 3 mixed led's from memory

in fact i think the new Fusion/Taurus might have it fitted anyway now

*edit*

Found it, looks like theres 7 colours on teh new model now and optional 125 which are just a shade or blend of all the 7 i would guess

in this months redline (no. 150 january 2010) they have a section about custom exhausts (page 121) and there are electonic exhaust bypas valves which when off/closed cause the exhaust gases to go through the silencers as normal when on/open release exhaust gases without silencers - stright through pipe tis would give a sport mode / note

on the same page there are devices called exhaust flapper valves these restrict the gas flow down a pipe by closing and allow jull flow when open again electronic

this is the mag which has featured the Leon Cupra owned by Kenny of here
