Last night my seat belt warning light came on,
despite there being no one else in the car.
It comes on as soon I start the car, and stays on.
Is there anothering meaning behind this?

1999 Seat ibiza 1.4 S
thanks

Answerd!

  • It was a airbag warning light, not seat belt.
  • as seen here:
  • airbagSign.jpg
  • This will not cause a MOT failure,
  • but the mechanic may insist that is fixed!(pinching)

i didnt know they had a seatbelt warning light. is it on the right side of the center console? cos thats the airbag light.

the airbag light to be fair looks like a seat belt light as it has a person with a seatbelt on it! - but its airbag light as it got a big baloon type thing in front of the person on the symbol.

This light should light up initially, then go out after a second or so when the airbags are confirmed as working ok.

Well not that you mention it,
it probably is, the light is alittle dusty, you can only see light coming from the man.

so does this mean my Airbag is kaput?

thanks for all the replies so far.
