Hello i am new on here and i was wondering if anyone has had problems with there secondary air pump? I have had a light up on my dash becasue of this for the last year and really would like to get it sorted out but the cheapest pump i can find is about 250 and for something that does not affect the running of the car i am inclined not to do it but was wondering if anyone had idea's on what i could do

Thanks James

What code do you get? I have also had this problem come up in the last week (p0411 incorrect flow) and am thinking along the lines of just mentioned above.
Are there any guides how to fit the blanking plate? iv also seen something about a resistor being required? any help appreciated!

Does it make a loud noise when you start the car from cold?

If so the pump housing has most likely come apart, it's held together with aluminium rivets. Easy to repair the pump with some machine screws and nuts though.

If you remove it you'll need a resistor to fool the ECU into thinking the pump is still there. Otherwise you get a dash light on....

Ah ok, yeah mine makes exactly that, sounds like an jet engine! Is it a case of drilling the rivets out and simply replacing with your method? Is the housing coming apart a common cause of that code?
Cheers

Mine was sounding like a dyson when I fixed it 7 years ago, I didn't have a dash light on at the time though, just the racket from under the bonnet.

It could also be one of the plastic hoses leading to/from the pump has become brittle and cracked.

Have a look at the pump first, I could see there were rivets missing from mine...

okay thats i will look into getting a resistor when i am back from work, just annoying having a light in my dash thanks
