Secondary Water Pump

Hi Guys,

I have an '01 1.9 TDI S Ibiza. It's the 90bhp one before the PD engine. I suspect that my secondary water pump has failed as the fuse on top of the battery blew, and there is no noise after ignition is off.

I called the nearest SEAT garage, told them all my details including reg, and they say they cannot find a secondary water pump for my car!

There is a cylinder thing behind the drivers side light cluster, next to the radiator, it's hard to inspect without taking all the belts off.

Please can someone confirm that my car does indeed have a secondary water pump that should run after the ignition is off?

Thanks for the reply.

Seems many others haven't either! It is sometimes called:

after-run pump
auxilary water pump

It runs for 10-15 mins after ignition off to circulate coolant over the turbo. I know the cupra petrols have them for sure.

Only the Cupra has the pump that does that. If your car was making a funny noise after you turned it off and now it doesnt after chaging a broken fuse something must have been on that shouldnt have been!!!.
