On using the search function I have come to realise that this is quite a common question!

I picked up my TDI PD140 on Saturday.

On Monday morning a headlight bulb went (easy fix) on Tuesday the heaters/fans stopped working (an absolute pain as it has been particularly cold in the morning lately) and today to top it all off I have started getting the owling/police siren sound!

When I read what it was on the forum my heart sank!

Now I bought the car from a dealer and I have 3 months warranty. They have already said that they will fix the heater problem but I am not too convinced that they will take me on board with the turbo problem. I reckon I will get fobbed off with 'they all do that'.

To me it doesn't sound right, is it worthwhile me being stubborn and insist they sort the turbo or should I purchase one myself and get a mechanic to do it at my cost rather that wait for it too pop?

Can anyone recommend me a turbo? I am not looking for any performance gains and just want a car that isn't going to die!

Any thoughts, opinions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! :D

If it's under warranty then they have an obligation to fix it, otherwise it's not fit for purpose and get a refund.

Are you sure its a turbo issue?

It is always worth being stubborn and insisting they repair the issue as LeonES has rightly said.
Im pretty confident you will get this repaired under their 'warranty' i would have a shot at reading though the fine print of that one!

Was the car purchased from a Seat dealer? Reason i ask is that you can involve Seat customer services ect if it was.

I haven't a clue if its a turbo issue or not to be honest! It has started making that owling/police siren noise and a lot of threads on here suggest that the turbo is on the way out!

There are no warning lights and I haven't lost any performance, I don't want it to go pop and leave me with a lot more trouble!

I didn't get it from a Seat dealer so unfortunately I cant go down that path!

Cheers for the replys

Oh deary, in my experience being stubborn enough will get you results, or atleast a better deal. Have a look at their warranty policy if possible.

Don't spend money unless you absolutely have to!

I am taking it back to the dealer on Wednesday so their mechanic can fix my heater problem and 'take a look' at the turbo!

The police siren/owling sound has gotten much worse since Tuesday.

The issue I forsee is that there are no warning lights and it wont show up any faults, therefore it must be ok. How can I 'persuade' them that the turbo needs reconditioned/replaced

Cheers

A mechanical defect in most cases wont show up as a fault code, for example a noise.

if you complain that there's a noise, they have to investigate it
