Morning all, new member here!

Currently running a stage 1 mk3 cupra 280. 363bhp and 542nm torque. Planning more power but need more traction first lol. I've done racingline lowering springs, st suspension rear anti roll bar, front strut brace from strut brace UK and Michelin PS4S all round but still spinning up more than I'd like.

I know it's to be expected with that much torque but is anyone running semi slick tyres like the Yoko AD08R's?? Any better than the PS4S or is the diffenerce not noticeable? Only use my car as a weekend toy but still want to be able to drive it all year round, considering keeping the stock wheels for winter and getting a set of 18's with semi slicks for summer fun.

I plan on doing some track days later in the year, and stage 2 (maybe 3) with also be on the cards but still want to get some good 0-60 times on the dragy.

Cheers for the help!

Welcome to the forum,

Seems like you're all over it lol although (I'm not an expert) I don't see any mention of the lower engine mounts being swapped out as they greatly reduce wheel hop under power so I read anyway...

I see people with 500bhp and PS4S's and they seem to be fine I think lol maybe one of the MK3 boys can chime in with some ideas...

@paddy6789 @theoldboy @Damo H

You'll have to get some pics up of your motor for all to see lol also if you're near Doncaster we have a forum meet to discuss stuff like this on 28th April if you fancy it?

Cheers

That's a lot of torque from a stage 1 map!

I have Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres on my car...the amount of people I have to tell that they are meant to be almost semi slick is unreal! But it will not solve your traction problems, it will certainly make it worse. The tyres you've got on are arguably the best all rounder.

Engine mounts will be the way to go. Revo I think will be the best bet for the full set. They aren't as harsh as the Racingline ones (I used to have the full Racingline mount set on my previous 290). @theoldboy has the full Revo set and it doesn't feel anywhere near as harsh. And he tracks his with no problems.

Yea I've done a fair bit of research, owned the car for over a year now and been slowly doing bits and pieces when I can. Should have mention that i have installed the power flex hybrid mount (not the insert) and also have a full MST induction kit, intake pipe, turbo elbow and turbo muffler delete. Did the clutch delay valve delete as well cause why not lol.

Yea I saw the meet, I'm in hull so donny isn't far at all, I'll have a look at the details soon and post some pictures of the car over the weekend. Cheers mate!

Yea I heard good things about the ps4s so went for them but now I'm thinking semi slicks might be a bit better for the way I drive it Haha.

I'll definitely have a look into the revo engine mount kit as I'll do anything to help keep traction now my step brother got himself a mk6 golf r, xant have him getting the jump on me now can Icheers for your help mate!

I use the Cup 2 tyres for the Track and PS4S for road use. With regards to engine mounts, video below gives you some idea of the difference they make. I am very happy with the revo ones but there are many good ones out there that all do the same think to greater or lesser amount.

Cheers mate, I'd be interested to see how much vibration you get in the cabin after installation... something to look into I guess

Well if you make it to the Doncaster meet you can have a sit in the car and feel.

When I first had them fitted Revo said they are pre loaded so at first will be very hard but after a period of time they get softer. Cant say as I noticed them being hard but they do make a difference to keeping power down.

Yea mate I am planning on getting to the meet. Cheers for that bud, definitely need to do something about it as I only managed a 6.8 second 0-60 (it was damp and I had a passenger in) so I'm not very impressed at the moment haha

To be fair these fwd cars are not about 0 - 60 much more about 30 - 150 that's when you enjoy that power.
