Ordered from local SEAT, £42 all in

Are you changing the ARB's aswell?

What does that £42 quid include?? I think i may have been stroked!! I got 2 uprated bushes, 2 bearings and 2 mounts.

Not doing the ARB-want to see how it goes first!!

What coilovers did you go for?

I replaced my strut top mounts on my leon when i had the coilovers fitted. Recommended as they say they usually wear out by 40k ish, and i didnt want to have to pull it all out and fit them later. My car has done 50k anyway, so thought it best. Only cost £12 for the mounts anyway.

PM sent dude,

Thankies you, PM sent back :D

Do you think 40mm/50mm on the front and 60mm+ on the back would look the nuts and still mean I can go on public roads with standard (tho will be blackenered!!?! *spelling*) 16' FR rims?

Best go, finish work in a minute....

muwahaha :D

My FR gets lowered this wednesday with KW variant1 :)
I'll go for the lowest setting possible also with the standard wheels but with spacers of 2cm at the back[B)]
Now hoping that I don't get problmes with the ARB

Im gonna be looking @ lowering soon....but i dont want a huge drop...hom can i get 35mm?

or can i not?!
The Seatsport kit used to give you a claimed drop of around 25mm, but in reality was more 30mm. Just a shame you can't buy it anymore from Seat. Although Spaniels has the Sachs Performance kit which apparently is the same, so it might be worth speaking to him.

I would say you deffo need bushes replaced mate. Ive had KW Variant 2's on my car for about 18 months now and mine are totally wrecked. The car rubs all the time on the arch cos the wheel moves back and forward so much when i go over bumps, accelerate and brake. REALLY bad!

Not sure how much my car is lowered as I had it done at Star Performance and I never had it measured. They just put it as low as it would go without it unduly affecting the handling.

So I have to replace my bushes etc asap, so can someone tell me what exactly I should be asking for? I take it they are uprated as Ed says as i aint replacing them with the same ones as they wore too quickly. What exactly does the top mount do when you upgrade it? Dont even know what a top mount is!

Im going to have to get my done in the next 2 weeks as its ruining my tyres and making braking feel very unsafe as the wheel has to move back a lot before it actually slows the car down. My car was in Arnold Clark (eek!) and they said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bushes etc as they examined them. Even after me showing them how much the wheels moved back tey still said that was normal despite every single person commenting on how badly they moved. Just last week in the tyre fitting place the guy even said it to me there without me mentioning it!

the top mounts on my leon were simply like rubber mounts really - the shock goes through this and basically stops the shock moving in a horizontal plane. They are very hard rubber, and IMO should be replaced - why do 1/2 a job?

Mine looked relatively warn at 50k miles, but now I know they won't need changing for quite some time. Not sure about aftermarket ones - think Powerflex would be your best option there.

The two mounts cost me about £12 all in. No additional labour charges as the old ones have to be removed anyway.

Heres a pic of my car lowered. There is not really a better one that would show the drop. I know this angle is not really that useful. As my car is in the garage I cant take another one. I'll phone SEAT in a minute and find out when Im getting my car back from them.

@ Pabs : Did you buy uprated mounts from SEAT themselves? What was required to fit them? Did you have to have all the suspension taken off? Im going to get my brother to fit all of this stuff for me and then get over to Star to get it realigned.

This may sound stupid, but Im assuming there are mounts on the rear suspension also, did you have to change that as well? I would reckon they would not be under any where near as much stress and the front ones.

From what I have been told by the knowledgeable people on here, the rears are not worn anywhere as near as much as the fronts, and when my suspension was fitted they said the rears looked fine anyway.

The fronts I bought were STANDARD mounts - not uprated. Just new. TBH i didnt look into aftermarket uprated ones.

AFAIK, and I might be able to get an ETKA diagram up later when at home, the whole suspension will need to be removed to put new mounts on. Hence why its easier, and a hell of a lot cheaper to do it all in one go. They are the mounts that go at the top of the shocks (hence their name)

I would have thought the ibiza was the same. Ask bill/m0rk etc - they are the people who really know what they are talking about :)

This is it then. It's not the lowest setting though but it's still good drivable now and that's whats most important.
The spacers are for next week, they were not there yet.
No probs with the arb for now.
