anyone else had similar experiences with seriously seriously tight 12 point front driveshaft bolts?

over the course of a couple of days now, using a 12 point deep impact socket, and wd40, then wd40 'specialist release penetrant' spray overnight, then american 'pb blaster' spay overnight

ive tried normal 24" breaker bar, then that with a 5 foot scaffold pipe, neither worked

are they normal anti clockwise to undo on both sides?

what's next? heat the bolt up itself with a MAPP cannister on a gas plumbers torch? get it hot or cherry red then crack it loose or wait until its cooled then try and crack it loose?

obv i dont have access to oxy acetylene etc

then what drill them out? nightmare? cut the driveshafts? ouch!

Try harder. I got mine off with a 1 metre breaker bar and I'm pretty weedy

I wouldn't use heat. You'll just damage things.

A proper garage or industrial air driven impact wrench is a good shout if they're really stubborn. If you can't undo it by hand with a 1.5m lever then I doubt an electric or low power air wrench would produce enough torque to shift it though.

okay thanks guys

is it definitely anti clockwise as normal to undo?

ive tried my makita cordless impact wrench, the new 2017 dw1002 rated upto 1000nm

just undone the passenger side by hand with a 5ft bar, one hell of a almighty crack and bang then it came loose

im guessing its because these bolts that are fitted now have the small splines/ridges on the back of the face and should only be done to 70nm then 90 degree final turn

where as the bolts that are flat/smooth on the back of the head face, should be done to 200nm then 180 degress final turn

Is that the official difference / torque specs? When I read up about them it seems no-one really knew.

hi yes

i got the info from a video tutorial on how to fit new front suspension dampers and strut tops etc on an audi a3/vw golf/seat leon/skoda from http://kyb-europe.com/

9.43 mins video showing how to do, but more importantly to me also shows torque specs and other useful little bits of info

I saw that video as well when looking how to do the front suspension. Kind of put me off the job....so much so that I haven't even got around to buying the 12 point socket yet
