I have never seen an oil pressure light come on though, what does this look like?

Read your manual, it will show you where the oil pressure warning light is and what it looks like.

I always read up on such stuff when I get a new motor, it pays to know what lights mean what.

Good point, not a bad idea to know what all the different warning lights mean.
I see that in the MK3 FAQ section there is a copy of the manual. I will take a look in there, something to keep me busy whilst I wait for the new car to get built

Ok so been to the dealer this morning and they have swapped it over. Apparently on the PDI there was a line missing on the paperwork that said long life (even though it has a long life PR code) so they just set it back to 10k miles. It is annoying that it happened but at least it has been sorted out in the end.
