Hello,

Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong section.

MOT and servicing is due soon for my Ibiza ( have no problems except for rear suspension making squeaky noise when going over bumps and rattling noise at the back assuming from the speaker covers)

Stupidly, i didn't think of reading the reviews before booking the servicing and now was looking around and havent managed to find a single good review. So i want to know if people think i should go to my local garage (ive had the car for about a year now and never had problems so dont know any garage people either  )

I can still cancel it as its booked for wednesday, also if there are any good seat authorised/non authorised dealers in the west london area could you please let me know.

Thanks in advance

I've just had good and helpful service from Spur Garage in West Moseley, near Hampton Court. They are a main dealer, but I recommend.

Went to my local garage and my brother knew the guy so settled on 110 for MOT and minor servicing. Not sure if paying 60 quid extra just for the SEAT stamp + bad customer service is worth it ?

If you do go to SEAT West London, make sure you check they do actually fill in your service book and stamp it. Pretty poor of them to overlook doing this and a good job I happened to check.

Sorry about not updating. I had been quoted £170 for major servicing from local garage however as i wanted it done by the dealership, went to Spur Garage as suggested by Wimbledonian.

Overall service was good although not happy with what I got for the price. Paid 250 for major service and when i got the invoice, saw £38 was for parts including VAT and rest was just labor charge which is ridiculous. Guess that's the cost for wanting to get manufacturers stamp in the booklet.

The thing which annoyed me the most was, online it says you get a years free roadside assistance with either minor or major service but apparently they're not giving it if you have made the booking over the telephone and would incur extra £30 which is about what it costs to get a new membership with RAC or the AA.

Anyways, after the "vehicle health check" i got a phone call from them telling me there was a leak in the radiator, leak from air conditioning pressure switch, rear bakes needed "servicing" (as i had asked them to JUST adjust the handbrake), apparently my brake-pads needed changing and so did the brake fluid and also one more thing which couldn't read as the mechanics writing wasn't very good.

They quoted me somewhere 350-500 for that extra job and also parts had to be ordered so wouldn't be done on the same day which is fair.

I told them kindly not to touch anything apart from what i brought it in for.

Seems like everywhere you go they try to squeeze some more money out of you.

I will not ever be going to a dealer again.

I agree dealer prices are expensive and I personally never use them.
But you have taken your car in and they have done their job and took the time to tell you what else is broken or in need of maintenance. The dealer didn't make your aircon leak or wear your rear pads out. Granted they want more money out of you if possible but you have got what you wanted plus a free list of what needs looking at next.

Yeah i suppose. But its absurd how expensive their prices are. If there are any members who are mechanic or who know what their doing, id be more than happy to pay them to get my car done and will probably cost me a fraction of the price that dealership ask for.

They have large overheads compared to the smaller garages and they are using genuine parts which are a lot more expensive than pattern parts.
I'm not siding with them but I understand their overheads.
A friend of mine is a sales manager at a large dealer and I was jokingly saying at how much the service department must make and his reply was they had not cleared profit all year.
I try to do all the work myself but its a ball ache sometimes. Certain jobs I stick my car in the main dealers but I don't pay labour so I save those jobs up and use them rarely.
