Went to my mates today guys, who's bro is a vag mechanic, as i was going on the 20 mile run i noticed my left window wiper on the leon was squeeling a bit and looked to be struggling to operate?? It had been icy in the morning as i had washed the car on fri night and left it to sit. Spoke to my pal's bro and he had a look, sprayed a bit of WD-40 on the bolt and tried to ease it. The bolt was solid!!! He checked the drivers side which was absolutly fine! Passenger side was unbearably solid but as it was starting to get damp and dirty with the salt still on the road, i wanted to get it working, he sprayed a bit more wd, and was still squeeling, so he went to try and slacken it and snap!! the bolt had sheared off perfectly in the nut! Had to take wiper off thankfully my drivers side is perfect, but it is meaning a new wiper motor!!! Raging!!! Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Probably as the left and nut is left hand thread, so it wasnt seized he was just doing it up not undoing it.

In all honesty techie he mentioned that before hand! I asked if he was doing it the right way as i thought he wasnt! But he told me it was a left hand thread on the left side! It was absolutly solid! The other one was perfect! And in fareness it was squeeling pretty bad which it has never done before! I think it was probs to do with it being so frosty this morning, to an extent. Just wondered if this is common? I also noticed both bolts on both side were different colours, the left hand one black, and the right hand one silver???

Fair enough, if its a black nut it means its left hand thread.

Seen it done thats all, sorry to assume.

Not seen one seize up as yet.

Ok mate.. i've contacted the dealers, they'll have a look at it on monday, the prob is that's time off work for me!!! Will they give me a courtesy car? It's just i can't afford to stay off work for this, the other prob is, they take a look at it on monday, but then they still won't have the part in until another day????

Can be two days for parts, VOR isnt always guranteed.

If they have a courtesy car you can have one but normally a waiting list for them, just have to ask.

My wiper motor packed in a few weeks ago & the spindle sheared off trying to get the nut off.
It took 4 days for the spindle/crank assembly to be delivered as it had to be ordered from Germany.

Mine was broke before I bought the car. Came loose about a month ago (my car is out of warranty). Found out the whole assembly needed replacing had to buy the part from a Seat Stealer (Actually TPS in Slough) at a cost of £102.14, plus a left handed nut for £5. To actually change the arm my friendly Seat Specialist: SJ Concepts fitted it for me, it took about 2 hours and needed VAGCOM to reset the wipers once disconnected.

Hope your experience with Seat doing it isn't too costly/ time consuming.
