Hi all,

ive noticed that high mileage Leon pd150's are still going for good money. The only thing im worried about is if i were to spend that much, will i be buying myself problems or are they definately worth the money. Ones ive been looking at are 54-55 patesd all going for about 5-6500 quid?

i paid £6800 for my MK1 2004 leon FR TDI 150 at the end of last year with 103,000 on the clock. Its on 110,000 with no probs, just needs and oil & filter change. Seems to be running like new.

Its a diesel, it can do the miles... just check its been regulary serviced as long as the engine sounds and pulls well you should be ok

engines are strong.weak faults can be cam loeb wear, sticky tappets but generally solid and sound mechanically.seen pd engines run 200000 with only general maintenence ie cambelts oil changes etc..good quality engines...would research on oil changes as much as possible and cambelt needs changing @60000 miles or 4 years whichever first.overall great engine

Recently bough a FR 150 TDI from a friend of mine who has had it as a company car from new in 2004.It's covered 112,000 from new with full Seat history, just had 4 new glow plugs and a battery, window regulators replaced, cambelt replaced etc, massive service history.

Goes like a rocket, no smoke or DMF rattle, i did have a GT TDI 150 Golf and this had flywheel rattle and boosting problems. The leon has spent all 112,000 miles going up and down motorways so goo news.

High milers are good buys and i got it for a bargain and am well pleased.

My father has a non pd 90bhp tdi with 325,000 on it and the engine never needed any parts. We also have a 115bhp with 207,000 and the engine is good, however it will need a new flywheel soon, and the engine that was in my leon was running perfectly till the mount broke (due to a local garage doing the timing belt).
My point is that TDI engines are well able to handle high milage as long as they are serviced properly
