Morning all

I have owned quite a few SEAT's in the past and have been a member for years....

I have no car at the moment so have been looking at the Octavia VRS, Leon FR TFSI and the Altea FR TDI.

If I went for the Altea I would go diesel - just because I think the petrol would be difficult to sell on - I've seen a low mileage Altea i.e under 30k but remember reading about quite a few issues with the DPF diesels...

So would you recommend the Altea FR Tdi and what should I look out for ?

I'd really appreciate your views !

thanks

Mine's petrol, because it's mostly used for short journeys round town. If you're putting in the miles and your journeys are more than half an hour, I'd have thought diesel was a no-brainer!

I have both a VRS CR Octavia (10 plate)and an FR TDI PD Altea(56 plate). Do you know I prefer the Altea. I think it's becuase it's fully loaded with extra's where as the Skoda is standard VRS.

Both nice cars though

Go for it mate - I had a Leon FR Tdi prior to my current Freetrack. Absolutley no issues with the DPFs in either car over nearly 4 years of ownership. The Altea also handles well and is very well kitted out

Hi, mines a 07 Fr Tdi Altea, got it 8 weeks ago with 108,000 on, already up to 119,000(courier). Love it to pieces, not as a good a car as previous Accord, but so much more fun!
Drive like a granny whilst at work and get an average between 40-47 mpg and considerably less at weekend's. Driving that slowly does make the Dpf a pain, but a good regular run at constant rev's seem's to clear it out. As far as spec goes, i let my brother drive it the other day and he commented that his friend has a newer Leon Fr, but that didn't seem to have anything like the toys mine had. For me the best thing is the 8 speaker stereo, a pleasure to use.

lol my previous car was an Accord - I am beginning to regret selling it - was a fab car and the 2.2 diesel was sooo quiet...

thanks folks - seatfang have you had any issues with the Altea ?

DPF has played up but has been OK since new software and sensor.

DMF is on its way out at 80 K.

But apart from that it's been fine.
