Hi guys,

Just a quick question from me. Should I get wind deflectors for my 5 door mk3 Leon FR?

Does anyone have a 5 door hatch with them on (ideally in grey - I know that's a stretch), just so I can see for reference before I purchase some.

Here's a pic of mine for reference

All the best, Matt

I personally don’t like them either so I wouldn’t fit them. I don’t drive my car with the windows open (I always have the A/C on) so don’t feel I’d have a need for wind deflectors.

@m4ttn1 - I don’t know if it would be an issue with the mk3 / mk3.5 Leon, but with the Leon’s sister car - the mk7 / mk7.5 Golf - I remember reading on one of the Golf forums some time ago of the door mirrors fouling the wind deflectors when locking / unlocking the car with mirror auto-fold function activated. It wasn’t all brands of wind deflector where this was an issue (sorry, I can’t remember which brand(s) it was an issue with), but maybe something to be aware of and consider if you have auto-fold mirrors.

Nice looking car by the way 😎.

Thanks for the info @SRGTD - always good to know the insights from the forums, they can be mega helpful.
I would normally be in the same boat as you with having the AC on, but mines bust atm so I'm melting in this heat wave atm haha

Thanks for the picture @Mo_86 - very clean ST you have there. What spoiler have you fit there?

Treat them as Rain deflector, NOT Wind deflector. Very useful in rainy days. Perfect fit and no obstruction with the folding side mirrors.

They won't reduce wind noise - by the way the tyre noise is much worse than the wind noise even at 50mph, with the disappointing T005s.

Mine is a white Leon Mk4 Estate/ST. If you want "grey", try it in AI generators.

Thanks @Momochi they look smart on your car - nice colour contrast to the white.

Also good to know about the wind vs rain argument. Cheers

They do work very well as a rain deflector, so opening the window a few inches, you'll avoid wet door cards.
When it comes to wind, sound wise nothing but when travelling at more than 30mph you'll notice the wind will not hit your face like it would without.
Also on motorways, if you happen to be stuck on average speed zone at 50 mph they help loads with reducing wind into the cabin.
