I want to add too, a week or 2 before the above symptons happened sometimes(intermittently) when i would put the foot down it felt as if the turbo wasnt cutting in and letting off a good bit of smoke and when letting off accelerator and pressing again it went ok. I suppose similiar to vanes sticking in turbo. But since i cleaned the MAF that has never happened since. Would a faulty MAF give do that or just a coincidence since cleaned?

Ever thought the lower mpg could be due to the temp? Is very common on higher powered diesel engines all due to the colder weather. Helpul link below:

yea the cold weather is a pain in the backside, i managed 27mpg the4 other night according to my averaged mpg on the trip conp.... wasnt being to harsh to it either, ive seen loads of ppl drive harder than me n get better mpg at times :S im not lacking power tho so MAF im sure is ok might stick it in my mates Ultra sonic tank some time
