Sorry, pics will follow later today once i have a camera to hand.

Leon TDI 150 Cupra. To the right of the engine and on the gearbox housing there is a hole around the size of a 2 pence piece through which you can see running gear. The Seat dealer in Beeston Notts, said it didnt have a cover and was there to allow the timing belt to be alligned correctly and easily.

Does this sound right to you? I would have thought that exposed running gear was a bad idea - if anything was dropped in there for example it wouldnt do ano good!!

Cheers fellas.

Yep, I should think so. It's the same gearbox after all. Just a matter of finding a dealer that believes you. Maybe ask the guy at Willoughby to pop the bonnet on a car on the sales lot and point to the plug in question, and ask "If it's supposed to be open, then can I have that one and you convert your car to the correct spec?"

Right, the parts guy believes that the part number is this:

02M301115B

I get it tomorrow as it has t be ordered and will fit tomorrow as soon as i get home. Following which, i'll be back to let you all know how i get on!

Yer true but the bell housing does have about three holes at the bottem to let the dirt out! Will ade clutch cooling!!!!!!!!

My opinion, is that if there was meant to be plug in the hole then there should be a plug in the hole and for £3 i'm not bothered. A Seat monkey said it didnt need a plug but id rather things be right than wrong!

Holes at the bottom dont let you drop things into them :p
