Shudder, egr, hesitant etc help

Ok so I have been reading throughout the tdi search after having my tdi ibiza fr for a month, i am experiencing the shudder, hesitation etc at 175-2 revs. I have got the car booked in for the 10th when I am back off holiday, I was just wondering has anyone taken theirs to the garage and actually had it fixed? or have they been told it is normal and been left to their own devices to fix it

When explaining to the mechanic and salesman over the phone, they said they had never heard of such a problem ( I didn't mention that after a 2 minute browse on the net it wasn't rocket science to realise it is a common known problem )

Cheers for the comments guys. Well I will just take it back to the garage on the 10th and see what they do without any prompting. Shouldnt take long at all.

they will probably do nothing about it, take it for a drive and say it seems normal.

that's what they said to me. Still trying to find someone local with VAG-COM to turn mine down.

you could post up in the VAG COM forum i think theres a requests thread in there.

already tried that but no replies.

this thread got me thinking about it again so I disconnected the EGR valve and blocked the tube. Seems to have cured the problem and I don't get any lights on my dash like some people report.

Would still be nice to turn it down instead of having a pipe hanging loose under the bonnet

Just push something tight fitting into the pipe by half an inch or so, then you can reconnect it ;)

Spoke too soon. After about 20 miles the light's come on. :(

Might ask the dealers if they can turn it off at the next service

Dealer won't do it, aren't allowed to, they are bound by Government Legislation *not* to turn off pollution control. They will set it back to manufacturers recommended settings. I plug my EGR back in for the duration of the service visit.

(I have a 52-plate TDI-110 and the CEL doesn't come on if I disconnect the electrical plug from the EGR control valve)
